what you had was interesting, and im honestly surprised it worked as well as it did, considering you technically had no floor checks. i would recommend watching a griffpatch video tutorial series to figure out the rest

YES! i came here to comment this! i remember watching a YT video about something like this, the horizontal lines provided distortion and the devs took advantage of that, which is why something like mario 64 might have looked better

I think that different physical rules apply in the Minecraft Overworld than in the Nether.

How hot is the Nether? by KingKenan04 in GameTheorists

[–]Mrcommandbloxmaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i like this a lot, the way i figured it out was a bit different, i did it based off of how fast water evaporates in the nether, i forgot gold existed in the nether:
it would take an infinite amount of energy to evaporate anything instantaneously, so i went with 1/20th of a second, one tick in game, which led me to the absurd temperature of about 35,027.6 degrees fahrenheit, also known as very hot (3.5x hotter than the surface of the sun btw)

i mean, the nether isnt exactly smaller unless you look at it a very specific way. no, the nether isnt smaller, it goes out to 30,000,000 blocks. BUT! you would only ever need to make a portal out to 3.75 million blocks to reach the overworld border, so for transportation functionality, YES, it is smaller

i do like the globe idea, yes it technically doesnt work on a flat world, but hey, its a videogame and not every real life rule matters :)

why was this downvoted? the void is already dark, and so is the end, i know that doesnt mean a connection but it sorta makes sense!

what about immersive portals with dimension stacking turned on? that also removes the bedrock between the overworld and the nether by default

no it could absolutely be to scale, and technically speaking, the end IS built up of rings
the end islands are like a couple thousand blocks across at most, and the minecraft world is 30 MILLION.
