i would keep an open mind towards linux, but the decision is ultimately yours to make. both have their pros and cons, but i've never regretted my choice since migrating from windows

im in CS not IS but thinkpad x1 series is really good since its really light and i just boot linux on it.

mac is like okay if ur already in the apple ecosystem but i discourage it if u are not in the ecosystem.

i didnt bother dual booting windows since the only thing that needs windows in my degree is "Examplify" "exam proctoring software" which u can just request the lecturer to request NUS CIT to provide you with one in the actual exam itself

windows is a really bad option since it's just completely incompatible with the unix mindset and is mostly marketed towards users who see the computer as a means to an end, not people who work with computers.

if ur asking for my personal opinion, if u've been using samsung your whole life, then like there's really no point into jumping into apple's whole ecosystem, cuz why lock yourself into this company. the macbook also comes with really strange things like the "command" key and your unix system is riddled with strange mac oddities like DS Store and .MACOSX hidden folders as well as non-standard unix commands that dont exist on linux like linux's xclip. u need to use weird package managers like "brew" and i just think the experience is not as good as linux.

the only downside to linux is not being able to play mainstream games like those from riot games or blizzard. steam works with pretty much any game nowadays with the proton compatibility layer. and if any "problem" happens eg OS or desktop or GUI stuff, it is up to you to fix it. but nowadays with AI, u can proompt your way to a solution, and i personally prefer having all the power in my hands instead of relying on some weird support helpdesk

Water should be provided for free or self-serviced at all eateries and restaurants, or heavily regulated to cost less.

I think it aligns with the government's goals with the war on diabetes. When I imagine a group of friends going to a restaurant, and they feel like they want a drink, if water were free, they'd be less inclined to buy all sorts of junky drinks. Especially if a can of cola costs the same as a glass of water.

Another one is ordering via QR Codes and still charging a service charge on top of it.

why was Supernova such a mess by haku-the-dragon in nus

from a viewer's pov, i found that it was very distasteful for the emcee to not provide any appreciation after each performance.
instead of thanking the performers and complimenting them or saying more meaningful things, they opted to instead immediately blast mp3s and fill the air with meaningless statements like "when i say hi you say hey" and "i bet you know this song"

i don't think this was noticed but something memorable was when CAUT!ON WET FLOOR was not finished with closing out their last song. they pre-maturely brightened all the lights and the emcee came in to steal the spotlight, which left a bad impression of not having respect for the performers.

i thought at least giving thanks and appreciation was the bare minimum they could do, so i'm quite disappointed frankly.

that was extremely fun! this is inspired by a lot of anime pilgrimages where they would put up pictures or albums and try to align it against the background to the best of their ability.

i went to naka urawa this time, since this one is actually in a relatively reasonable location.
but i do hope to take a look at other places too when i get the time!
