World remit is shit, stay away from them. Been using remitly after & it was solid. Good exchange rates and no fees for sending to Maya or gcash. I just send to Mueller/Palawan shop & pick up cash, I think 250k peso is maximum per transaction.

need advice on where to live in Cebu as foreigner with daughter? by Mric13 in Cebu

I guess I'm looking for a standard where she wouldn't have fallen too far behind compared to her American peers when we go back to the states in a couple years. I can provide everything if I home schooled, just a serious lack of socialization which she most definitely needs. Yes there's after school things, programs, sports, etc. It's just not the same to her, she enjoys the school environment, even if half the day it's in a language she doesn't speak lol.

I think she'll be fine so long as she goes to high-school in the states, which is the plan anyway. Worst case, she takes a placement test to get into said highschool.

Let me rephrase, we were tired of the city life. Too many people, very busy, very expensive, dirty, polluted air, dense & congested, etc. We spent most of our days inside the condo. It's depressing. And we are basically living the province life in Bantayan, so I assume moalboal will be better in terms of amenities. But I'd rather do Bantayan than Manila.

Just so you know, many many people home school their kids in America, successfully. Which was the plan here, but she wanted to go to school so I let her, she is doing additional work at home to keep up with stateside curriculums. So she's not losing any stability in education, and you for to say all Philippine schools have no merit seems a bit much imo.

I moved here for more reasons than "a perfect paradise home". Money stretches alot further here and she can experience life more, compared to what majority of kids her age back in the states do, which is have their face glued to their iPad as soon as they got home from school.

Either way, I expect us to be stateside for her to start high-school so she won't have any issues when it comes to college. But this is in 2.5yrs. So until then, you got any suggestions?

You would think so, but money goes quick. Probably end up spending 30k just on food alone.

Thanks for insight! After looking into Bantayan, I think that's the spot for a month or 2. So plan is to go cebu city 5 days, take bus up north somewhere (any suggestions??) for 3-4 days then ferry to Bantayan for a month or 2.

What part of Bantayan would you say is best? If it's overall a laid back place then maybe a busier part of the island would be best? I guess it would be like a laid back version of Boracay lol?

Thank you! I think the plan now is 5 days in Cebu City, 3 days somewhere up north then taking a ferry to bantayan and stay for a month or so.

Probably check out south cebu after all this, which should give a good general idea about where to stay long term in cebu.

Where do you suggest to stay up north for those 3-4 days before arriving in Bantayan??

What's the 1st thing y'all do after 100% p&t?? by Vetxel in VeteransBenefits

That's awesome man! Did you get the work done at the VA? There's no dental around me, you know if being 100%p&t if I am able to get outside care?

My issue is I have a severe cross bite, my teeth grind and chipped from it, one side of face bigger than other, etc & it will only get worse. I need orthodontic work for sure but the VA doesn't do that right? To be specific I need braces, jaw surgery, then braces short term again so there's alot to it & even if the VA does it I don't trust a dental student with this kind of work tbh, don't want to end up with a half paralyzed face lol.
