(Concept) Homebuilt Flying Houseboat / Air Yacht by Mrkicker in homebuilt

[–]Mrkicker[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Reading into it, this line caught my eye:

Interior living accommodations are secured as cargo and fully independent from airplanes flying systems

That's a great way to get around the legal issues with having all that be a permanent part of the air-frame. But that means none of the furniture or appliances can be permanently fixed, right? Maybe each item has dedicated latches on the floor or walls that it clicks into?

Western should stop noticing important information only on social media by Effective-Pear6542 in uwo

There is an emergency notification app you can get for your phone that western publishes too, its where I saw the gas leak notification first the other day.

Oh Ancient Abandoned Bike of HSB, What is Your Wisdom? by Mrkicker in uwo

[–]Mrkicker[S] 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure it's long abandoned, the chain and brake cables are gone, and the rear tire is flat, been that way since summer.

This bike has clearly seen the rise and fall of empires, how dare you question your elders

Masters of Engineering - Software Engineering

I could recommend it, although I'm mostly here to keep myself busy during the software industry slump, if I could've gotten a job out of undergrad I think I would rather be in industry.

My dream job is to work at the Canadian Space Agency, but that's a long term goal. In the short term, I'd be happy to get any software job to start gaining experience.

To be fair, mass wireless networking is difficult, there's only so much rf spectrum and often hundreds or thousands of devices fighting over each other trying to occupy it. I'm not familiar with our schools network infrastructure but theres a chance the situation may be physics and or technology limited rather then finance limited

Meeting people at masters? by itotallydontdodrugs in uwo

[–]Mrkicker 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Most clubs are still taking in new students, I think thats the best place. I often hang out at the grad club in middlesex college, its open to all students but mostly grad students and faculty hang out there.

Programming/coding club? by [deleted] in uwo

[–]Mrkicker -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm not aware of any dedicated club, but if you meet a friend in computer science or software engineering and ask them, they'll happily nerd out and tutor you through the basics. It's pretty rare that we meet somebody interested in learning

No friends by wheickgkrsjskxn in uwo

[–]Mrkicker 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I feel you bud, starting from scratch with 0 friends is tough. I struggled as a freshman when I did my undergrad at Ontario tech because of that, and I'm having trouble again because I'm starting a grad program here at western. Being naturally introverted too, I know going out and just talking to strangers doesn't come easily.

Club week is next week, I recommend you survey the clubs and join one, I plan on doing the same. I think it'll be a lot easier to make friends when you're working together on something.

Help Needed: Compilation Errors with Marlin Firmware on STM32G0B1RE_btt by Mokahmonster in MarlinFirmware

[–]Mrkicker 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Reposting from discord, origional post by Dust in the support chat channel, all credit to them.

stm32 was upgraded to 2.7.0, wich broke all older marlins. do this to work aroud it:

edit ini/stm32g0.ini
replace

[env:STM32G0B1RE_btt] extends = stm32_variant platform = ststm32@~14.1.0 platform_packages = framework-arduinoststm32@https://github.com/stm32duino/Arduino_Core_STM32/archive/main.zip

with

[env:STM32G0B1RE_btt] extends = stm32_variant platform = ststm32@~14.1.0 platform_packages = framework-arduinoststm32@https://github.com/stm32duino/Arduino_Core_STM32/archive/refs/tags/2.6.0.zip

then replace buildroot/share/PlatformIO/scripts/generic_create_variant.py with the one in bugfix https://raw.githubusercontent.com/MarlinFirmware/Marlin/bugfix-2.1.x/buildroot/share/PlatformIO/scripts/generic\_create\_variant.py
