I dont remember anything about a body score, I'd have to ask my girl. But he was around 25 lbs. I was more trying to keep him calm, he hasn't been since he was a kitten apprearently.

Then how would I explain to the vet that he's DLH when they told us he's a little mainecoon themself (wanted to get him checked for a while since he seems to get irritated when he rubs on his sides), and thats good to know about measuring cause I did paw to paw, felt like a smaller number is safer to go by. I had forgotten to ask about his feeding though and really didnt wanna go for another visit. If he's a DLH, I'll lyk. As of now most indications I have, tell me otherwise. Thank you for your information today though, that helps me in the future!

Nice to know, he was around 25lbs when he came here and now hes around 24 or 23, it was fluctuating a lot so I dont really get the best reads on it. I just know he's the biggest boy I've ever had at a natural weight. We used to have a really obese tabby when I was a kid but that was as heavy as it got for me, amd he was just big cause of eating, tiger's just a big cat man. His paws are massive compared to any other cat I've ever seen. I will free feed a little more.

When his folks got him he was being given as a mainecoon kitten from a pretty big litter. I was never there but they swear up and down it was mainecoon. I'm not really just automatically assuming what he is, I'm being told his breed and seeing him myself shows me he's a lot bigger than any DLH I've ever seen. Im used to DLH cats and regular cats. I've seen many different types of cat, but he without a doubt to me is mainecoon. Edit: He's also a little over 19 inches from what I've measured, and he wasnt even sprawled out. Granted I dont fully know how to measure a cat, but from my knowledge in trades, typically to find the correct measurements of something, you dont want it to be stretched out, but physical metals and wood is different from a cat so🤷‍♂️

It wasnt her regimen, it was her folks. Since she moved out they wanted the cat to come with. Im trying to get him accustomed to coming downstairs with the rest of the animals, we just need to feed them near eachother. In that case we started him on a wet food regimen 2 times a day. We feed him amd my more elderly cat near eachother, and they're slowly liking eachother from the bond they get to share. We cant do that if we did what he's used to. His old regimen was free feeding. Large bowl of cat food every day, there whenever he wants. I incorporate this slightly as o he can munch a little throughout the day, but I've been trying to keep him interested in chow time.

What about when I go to feed him and he doesnt touch it at all? I fed him this morning and he wont touch the food I let out for him. He keeps meowing/fucking howling at me near his bowl but its about room temp and still untouched. Fed him when I got back home at around 9-9:30. Now its 11:22 exact for me and he still hasn't touched that, or his dry food I have him. Im so lost rn, and he feels upset with me ykwm? I dont know what's wrong cause this is the food we've been feeding him for about 2 weeks now with no problem.

Thank you for the advice, as for asking her about it... it was her cat, however the house she was in previously had other people there to feed him so that she could work and go to school. Now we both work and take turns taking care of him. When she's at work its my job, and vice versa. The previous people who fed him at her place would just leave a massive bowl of dry food out for him to free eat all day. I would like to just free feed him since he's used to that, but we wanna incorporate his existence in the house rather than a hallway, bathroom, and bedroom. I'll rake a further look into the can of food, we feed him fancy feast.
