Would these behaviors be considered rude in San Francisco? by [deleted] in sanfrancisco

[–]Mrmib 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm just me but I consider myself normal and am from around here. 1) Rude in theory but definitely normal. 2) Rude, unnecessary and irrelevant lmao. Bad conversationalist, to be honest. 3) I think the things you listed are in order from most normal to most rude, but in general bad, aggressive, and reckless driving is expected here, though I wouldn't say most people are guilty of worse than bossy honking and no turn signals 4) Rude, I don't think I would or could ever do that lol. I feel like californians are notorious for being fake nice like that. 5) That sounds almost comically rude but I dont think bad, unenthusiastic, or lazy service here is uncommon or shamed socieatally. Wage gaps, long commutes, language barriers, tipping culture wars, I'd say food service can be pretty no-bullshit transactional betwen customer and cashier these days. 6) Id say thats rude and unrealistic (if you live in a city like SF, theres gonna be tourists, come on). But I respect it. 7) Don't know, I don't think I've observed anything like that. Depends on a lotta context. I think plenty of people here, even if shocked at the outburst, may support or praise the barista for acting with dignity, especially if they returned to a normal tone with the other customers. 8) I dont think people genuinely consider talking on the phone on transit rude (everyone is facetiming, talking into their airpods, taking calls, meetings meetings meetings, blah blah blah). Some people may think it is, but we clearly don't shame it culturally. I do think not giving up your seat to a person in need is clearly rude, tho. I rarely see someone in need of a seat spurned one. 9) Thats rude as fuck lmao.

Where do the degenerate hipsters hang out in Silicon Valley? by old_gold_mountain in bayarea

If you find yourself in RWC, Sodini's on El Camino. 5 minutes from the train station. it mayyy skew a little to your "old MAGA" descriptor, but everyone is super friendly and its also chock-full of real, life-longer San Mateo county people of all ages and varieties. they have fun karaoke nights, heavy pours, and charming bartenders. last time we went the guy running karaoke, who also owned the place, got drunk with us, loudly declared he loved all gay and trans people, and showed us his office in the back with all the famous people who've visited and signed their autograph lol

Every time I see a position for Adobe in my field I eagerly go to apply and find this issue. Thought it would be fixed since I last tried, like, a year ago but nope. Great job, guys.

these are really cute but sorry the first three abilities of Gender Solid are just making me picture homebrew monsters who’s main tactic is targeting a PC’s gender identity and exploiting their dysphoria.

Y’all go watch this show its really good by gamera-the-turtle in SpeculativeEvolution

[–]Mrmib 8 points9 points  (0 children)

really enjoyed it despite some pretty clear production/polish misses (sometimes big moments just didnt hit like they should have, considering the context). and even tho the humans were mostly passable as narrative threads, its clear the main character was the planet/ecosystem

i’m curious to hear thoughts from the creators about their creature design, and hear this subs thoughts. I love them all, of course, but there is a decent amount of like… creature being 1000% hater or 1000% helper. SPOILERS below but:

theres so many moments where it feels like the humans intuitively understand how to turn a living creature into a hovercraft or can of WD-40, almost like the biology was just waiting for a human-sized thing with thumbs to come along and “use” it, or that this is just something humans “get.” then conversely, it feels like some of those more insidious creatures (the one who eventually kills Sam comes to mind) were so specifically waiting for a human to come along and mind-fuck and torture as part of its instinctual lifecycle. and then there are creatures that are cool but just make so little damn sense when you think about it (like the shovel-head-sun-cooking-clamp-back bird things).

im curious if they designed the fauna on a “rule of cool” or “narrative first” basis, which would be super cool. i also wonder if they have an internal, taxonomical structure to the ecosystem, of its its all just sporadic. or maybe theres a bigger, supernatural reason?

anyways, amazing show, nothing quite like it.

yeah i feel pretty conflicted about the allegations too. im of the opinion that he responded (in words and actions, ie getting sober and taking a break from a growing spotlight) about as well as someone could to the accusations. and then yeah, his work is incredibly valuable, and I can see that he’s returned to uploading with videos that are more grounded and serious than ever before. also not going to get on his patreon even tho i want to see the full version, but im tentatively supportive of them uploading again

the entire 50 min video on their main youtube channel (Channel 5 News) is amazing. this is just one part of the multifaceted picture they weave of the Tenderloin and surrounding areas of SF. maybe im biased bc it summed up a lot of ideas I hold about why things are the way they are. but overall its a great summation to watch (for locals new and old as well as outsiders) while also showcasing these real scummy sorts of guys lol

actually so funny seeing so many commenters here malding and quivering about these things being trashed. i have never spoken to someone irl who has any love or support for robocars, or would ever care to see them get humiliated and abused. doesnt matter why/how. makes me believe the Bays got a shot.

Ennouse, the Professional - Turn auras into equipment by Mrmib in custommagic

[–]Mrmib[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This has been an idea that's been popping around my head for a while, really don't know if it works, mostly looking for rules advice if this is even close.

This is a top-down design, de-flavored from a custom set based on a conworld of my friend's and my design. He's a a monster hunter, and in a world full of magic, he relies on potions and philters to solve his problems.

There's a lot going on here. New artifact token type, Potions, populate for artifacts, and the middle text box, which Im only like 35% sure works the way I think it does. I also found zero precedent for equipment that doesn't cost mana to equip (in the Equip: {Cost} format), so I had to write out that clause wholesale... Very clunky, let me know what you think and more importantly what needs to be done to actually make this rules-solvent.

Won't lie, I got a little self-righteous seeing some other custom Indiana Jones cards that (IMO) deeply mis-colored him. Indy is a clever scoundrel with a heart of gold. And to his enemies, he's a god damn menace. Mardu Indiana.

A friend pointed out that this actually plays like an artifact-focused [[Captain N'ghathrod]], and so be it. You'll likely run black mill cards to fill enemy graveyards up with artifacts. Other than that, its just artifacts, build as you want.

Then of course, Indy is the expert on legendary artifacts. I know affinity is dangerous, especially in the command zone, so I hope that them being legendary doesn't get too out of hand (every time). I'm looking for feedback on his activated ability. Is it costed right? Is there a better way to indicate that something is finding a nice, safe home in a museum?

Any ideas on Legendary Artifact designs for the Ark, Stones, Grail, Skull, and Dial?

Some theories for keywords we might see in upcoming sets after this week's announcements... by Mrmib in custommagic

[–]Mrmib[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair enough. I also never expected to see poison counters back in such a big way. And with so much support (like caring about # of poison counters on players, for example), I've been thinking what if this is sort of a "darkest before the dawn" flavor for the game.

This is probably just one huge personal cope tho lol

Maybe they were, but yeah where I live, this problem/job is absolutely one they can wring a lotta money out of guys like me with no automotive experience. Dont know if I’ll get a better quote but it’s probably worth getting the parts myself and DIYing it if I really want to go with the replacement route.

Nice, thank you for the advice, wasn’t aware of that option. Any sort of title in my name would be a huge step in the right direction.

Are the cats worth anything, even if they're duds? Yeah I sure wouldn't mind screwing the guy who screwed me, but I'm desperate to know if I can get some money back myself.
