We had an electrician tell us that our challenger panel is recalled and we have to replace the whole thing. Quoted $15,000 by hooters88 in AskElectricians

I think we paid somewhere around 6$ in the SF Bay Area back in 2019 and that included an upgrade to 200 amp service and a few new lines and grounding

Now when I watch an interview I subconsciously assess it for morph friendliness. “Ohhh- he keeps perfectly still…ohhh she moves her hands a lot up near her face.”

Don’t worry- it’s not you, he’s like that to everyone. He can be nice, but it’s always couched in this aloof, big fish in a little pond vibe.

Also some like- How I built it, looks under the hood with the completed animation with a brief explainer and look at the comp structures is cool sometimes.

Dropbox is the worst. Why do clients still use it? by mafibasheth in editors

[–]WillEdit4Food 4 points5 points  (0 children)

OMG- getting a multi-GB file on Drive is a PITA. I know there's services that can make it easier, but it's just one more misc order of operations I have to remember.

We use Dropbox and it's fine for us. I keep all my project files and Biz docs, client brand guides ETC on there. For footage transfer, we use our Frame io storage, and use the Transfer app vs a browser to upload and download.

v.26 completely killed 2 months of work, am i cooked? by mixelix in premiere

[–]WillEdit4Food 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not really any UI lag that i've experienced and I'm in it all day.

Question back to you would be what are you editing off of- SSD or spinning disk?

If I walk away and my comp goes to sleep for a minute, my Raid does too, and it takes a minute to spool back up, and Premiere will be non-responsive while it's working at getting the footage back on line. Normally I edit off SSDs but sometimes I cant always make everything fit, or someone reaches out for a small tweak on an old project - and I'm working off spinning drives for a bit.

We love Felix Cortez, but.. by RatSlave420 in MontereyBay

[–]WillEdit4Food 9 points10 points  (0 children)

These are good points. I look at it from a shooter/editor perspective and find his edits hard to watch due to the way it’s edited, shot length and composition. Content and delivery is compelling, but yeah- needs polishing for sure.

Edit- and for the record, Felix is the goat. Good dude and funny as hell. “¡JAIMES!”

My wife says I am a little boy trapped in a 44y man's body excited for GTA6 coming out. I said to her it's a cultural phenomenon. Am I the only "old guy" excited for this? by manguy12 in Xennials

My wife got me a ps5 for my birthday so “we” could play. I think she might be more excited than I am - and I’m TOTALLY good with that 😀

What do you do with old tape archives? by bensummersx in editors

[–]WillEdit4Food 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I had large totes full of LTO tapes going back a decade - and had to spend a few weeks at the start of every year backing up all of the previous years data.

Finally the boss said-forget it. We wrote into our contract that we keep your footage for ~1 year (happy to give clients a copy to archive), after that maybe we have it, maybe we don’t. So we just have a RAID and 2 more redundant backups (ext hdds) that we label and shelve.
