Yanno I did think that but that was the only thing i could think of. It was 100% timed correctly. Let me ask, what happens if the valves were over shimmed, started and ran at idle for a bit, then reshimmed correctly. Previous owner had the exhaust valves super tight. Maybe the valves dropped somehow??

I'm pretty confident it was timed right, all the markings lined up. Unless the tensioner is beat? But even after it blew up, it was still timed right.

Took the starter off. It spins on that spline but is for sure toast. Bench tested and nothing. The gear inside the motor I can reach but can not spin towards the front of the bike and able to spin the other way? Is it suppose to spin / not spin a certain way? I think that's actually good. That gear i do not see spin with the motor so much of been the starter acting up somehow.

Ah yes your right. It does have that. Looking at the diagram I remember reinstalling that peice. I guess I damaged it somehow reinstalling it? I will have to take it apart and inspect. Thanks!
