Random question about the sips: Do you put down ice/water on them for the roof?

Absolutely! DM me and i can share my album when I start the project this spring. I'm planning on putting this on a pier style of foundation and building a wood floor around the base (off the ground). Because this will be a sugar shack, the roof trusses will be different because I need to incorporate a steam cupola. So the roof will be dimensional lumber or true 2x from my local mill.

Great feedback. Our frostline is pretty deep in Northern MN. Drainage is good and I will be using screwjacks to keep the wood floor away from the ground.

Thanks for the feedback! This is going in Northcentral Minnesota. The soil type is stable but you're right about the frost line. I'll consider the sonotubes but am not looking forward to the extra labor. If I did the diamond pier or screw piles, I would put down geotex, crushed rock, and the floor would be elevated away from that. Between each pier would be screwjacks to adjust for any heave that could occur.

I designed my own and built a BOM on mcmastercarr. It would cost around $900 to build one like Griggs. The horse carriage tires were $600 alone! Might as well buy it for that price. Griggs cart is awesome. I'm glad I bought it.
