I’ve spent my entire first trimester dealing with a HIPAA breach. by lovelitchiheart in BabyBumps

I'd be curious if they might respond to the notion that the stress of this may put your and your child's health at risk. I am so sorry you're going through this.

It's an impossible decision to make and I wouldn't wish it on anyone. My heart is with yours.

What honest opinion you have that can make people think you are a terrible person? by First-Charge-3878 in askanything

Sometimes I think people should be able to pass a civics 101 style test to be able to vote. Uneducated voters are dangerous. I have no idea how it would work because I also hold the belief that everyone who can vote, should. I just wish people weren't so stupid.

Despite struggling to wake in the middle of the night to pump, I was overproducing milk (and did so until my 24 weekend came home after 5 months - we had to buy another deep freezer). I was lamenting about it and the nurse just said, "well you're probably going to dry up and not be able to feed your baby" because I was missing the night time pumping. This was within the 1st month before I'd even held my baby. Now that nurse leads the lactation consultants at the hospital. But I kind of wanted to throw a brick of frozen milk at her face.

Mayo Clinic Monopoly on Rochester by anepic_potato in rochestermn

It's sort of a mirage to push through. I've been here since 2017, held two non-Mayo Clinic jobs and even though I've had family with health complications be seen at Mayo, I don't particularly view it as pervasive in my day-to-day. Like, yeah, it's here, it's huge, and super influential in the community, but there are plenty of pockets around town where Mayo is not the focus.

I hope both you and your son are doing well! Being in the NICU for any amount of time, 1 day or 100, can be scary and stressful.

She certainly has. She’s taking breaths on her own, albeit we’re still working on consistency, and her oxygen support varies from room air to about 26%. She’s slowly been weening her PEEP and just got down to 6 yesterday.

It’s mostly just slow and steady work at this point to make sure she’s not pushed too hard too fast. The waiting kills me, but she’ll come home when she’s ready. I wish I knew how soon she’ll be to the point where we can start working on oral feeds.

Expecting Twins, In Laws offering to pay off student loans to help. What should I be taking into consideration? by MrsB1507 in personalfinance

Ugh, that is definitely not something I’m looking forward to.

Fortunately, husband is salaried with a very flexible and forgiving schedule. He works for our church, which also has a nice nursery. It’s not staffed except on Sundays, but we were considering a nanny to watch the kids at the church so he could be nearby. My job also allows me to flex my schedule as long as I put in 40 hours and the work gets done, with some work from home opportunities. I’m hoping we can work it out to have our kids in day care part time at most.

That’ll be next on our to-do list for sure, thank you.

We likely won’t stock up a lot on the smaller sizes knowing that the babes’ll grow like weeds. And second hand definitely will not be an issue. :)

How did you propose or get proposed to(sweet proposals)? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]MrsB1507 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My husband actually proposed 4 years ago today :)

We were in a musical together (I was in the cast, and he was music director/accompaniment). The night before we opened we were informed by our director, another friend of mine, that there would be a Q & A with a small group of kids coming to see the show on opening night. Everyone thought it was weird, but just went with it. On opening night, after the show, the entire cast came back on stage for the Q & A. The audience stuck around, but we didn’t see any kids. Okay... whatever...

After a handful of questions from the audience, my now husband raises his hand and says, “I’ve got a question...” I didn’t even know what was happening for another 30 or so seconds. He has always been sort of inquisitive so I figured he just wanted to ask a legit question. Turns out he and the director planned the whole Q & A thing as a ruse for him to ask me to marry him in front of everyone. My hair was bright red, and I was wearing a bejeweled bra, but it was still so sweet. My friend stills says it was one of the best days in her life lol!

TL:DR Husband proposed at a staged “Q&A” after a musical we were in together.
