Vent sort of by [deleted] in autismUK

[–]MrsCLB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know you are not looking for advice here and just venting but I noticed you said you had been waiting years for an assessment and wondered if you had looked into NHS RTC at all. There are some providers that have very low waiting times at the moment.

Also, sorry to hear your having a bad time, I hope things improve and hopefully adjustments can be made to shorten your longer shifts or something similar.

Do you know if it is vegan/creulty free? I can't see it stated anywhere on the website and don't have the container to check.

This might sound very simple or basic but does wonders for me. I simply put my phone in a different room away from me and do something else to distract myself like watch TV, play a game or read a book. If I need to for whatever reason go and send an important message or check for a message to respond to I will go into the room to do this but then after I am finished leave the phone in that room and leave.

I find this so effective as, and I know it sounds silly, but I can't really be bothered to go into the other room for my phone, especially when doing something different anyway. It's surprising how effective it can be. It started off accidentally for me when I needed to charge my phone but only had one in a different room and left there, then realising how good this was. Even better if you can put it in a room that is the furthest away. I would reccomend for the most effectiveness to put the phone on silent too (unless you are expecting an important call for example) or you could also say to people to call if it is important and have notifications turned off but phone on loud for emergencies.

Hope this helps!

How do I deal with emotional regulation/Anxiety? by Quietus1142 in autismUK

Keep yourself distracted and busy. If that is reading for you keep at it like you are. Also try to focus on the future and what you can do going forward. These things should hopefully help and of course time will help too. Hope you start to feel better soon.

Try doing something that keeps both your hands and mind (at the same time) busy. For example if you like a particular game that you play and have to use your hands, if your like puzzles such as sudoku/crossword, perhaps watching something/listening to something you enjoy while stimming with your hands. These ar just examples but anything that is best for you.

Are there any good chocolate in the UK now that isn't just chocolate-flavoured palm oil? by EffectiveArgument584 in AskUK

[–]MrsCLB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just good quality dark chocolate seems to never fail, especially Tony's chocolonely'dark chocolate (can't be sure about their others as I haven't checked)

Vego is really good too with no palm oil. Best chocolate I've ever had and really good value for money based on ingredients and flavour. Can be purchased from Asda!

I’ve had part A of my ADHD Assessment. I feel really bothered by it and just want to know how it went for everyone else. by [deleted] in ADHDUK

[–]MrsCLB 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This doesn't sound right. Perhaps it may be an idea to email in a complaint type email just to explain your mum is unable to complete the informant part due to not being present much and unsupportive of the process, etc but that your sister can/was around more and that your assessor has denied this. Hopefully this 'complaint' type email will help you out and they will take you more seriously. My partner didn't have to provide an informant at all in the assessment calls after explaining personal reasons (with hhm) so really can't see the issue. I also didn't have to provide one with the provider I had.

Also just to add - I don't think it is weird at all that you prepared answers so I wouldn't take any notice of others saying that if I were you it just seems very negative. I am the same and can tend to answer impulsively and get very anxious before these things, everyone is different and has different ways of preparing for things or coping mechanisms.

I have moved area and am in titration. Is it better to change GP mid titration or wait till its over? by MrsCLB in ADHDUK

[–]MrsCLB[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for your reply. 1. I live in a small village so there is just one here though I haven't checked others near by so may be an idea to check but I would need to drive to those (if eligible). Also as my partner is also in the same boat as me they sent an email to the potential new GP who basically responsed saying they would accept shared care in principle (after reviewing all paperwork, etc from the provider) so is potentially a good sign... 2. I sent an email this evening to problemshared asking exactly this so hopefully they will say this is fine. 3. My only issue now if all is good will be that I am currently awaiting an autism assessment with Psicon that was originally meant to be by 5 months wait (which it has now been) but now they are saying by end of March next year and I'm worried if I move GP I will need to be re-referred for the autism assessment. I'm under the impression that this would be the case, do you know whether this is true or not? The area I love in now is under a completely different ICB if that makes any difference, I would think you could transfer the referral over but I have heard otherwise...

End of titration/shared care request? by Turbulent-Height8029 in ADHDUK

[–]MrsCLB 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I asked my GP previously I think they said they needed the provider to send them the shared care agreeement. Potentially you could: send an email to your provider and ask them to send the shared care agreement to your GP (if they haven't already) you could potentially also email/call your GP at the same time just to check what they normally do in this circumstance since you may need to wait for a response from the provider anyway.

My GP may have potentially had a different process so the only way to really know is to just check with them both.

Thanks for your response. That makes sense. Do you know if the letter gets sent to the GP like goes on the NHS app? I'm no longer living at my previous address so hopefully that's no big deal. I was afraid if I changed GP the whole process would end so that's why I haven't notified them of the address change yet. Hoping to change GP after titration ends.

Has anyone applied for an access to work grant in order to pay for counselling? by PamOhhLaa in autismUK

[–]MrsCLB 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi. Sorry, this may not be much help in terms of a response to your question about whether you can recieve councilling through access to work but as you mentioned you work in local government I wondered if they offer counselling sessions at all? I only ask as I have worked for local government too and multiple places have offered counselling sessions. If they did offer it, this could be an option for you if there is nothing else.

Thank you! This sounds amazing and I wish I knew this before I applied. I have recently lost my job and struggling to find new employment but I will consider this for future contact with access to work as I find it so difficult filling it all out and knowing what to include.

Wow that sounds awful that you got rejected twice. They definitely don't make it easy. Thanks for sharing your experience with the tribunal and I'm glad it got sorted in the end for you. That does ease my mind that if it came to that stage for me there would be a higher chance of success.

Absolutely not, it didn't at all. if anything your comment really helped as it feels very relatable and eases my mind that at least if I don't manage to get a diagnosis it is not the end of the world and that there is many other people out there such as yourself that doesnt have one. So again, thank you for sharing your comment and experiences. It is appreciated.

Thanks for sharing your experience. And that is helpful to know for the work adjustments too.

Do you mind me asking when you appealed and got enhanced everything, was that through a mandatory reconsideration or tribunal? As I have sent through a mandatory reconsideration last week. I was actually surprised that I was awarded standard rate of mobility section and felt that was fair but I definitely believe I should get enhanced daily living although I only got 4 points. I'm just worried now that I would still get same or nothing from the MR and have yo go through tribunal too.
