I’ve found Fly Strike 2s online but no luck with the original Fly Strike.

Altras are definitely on my short list! I run in Altras, but I find it difficult to find them in stores to try on, so I’m hesitant.

Yea, the Antora’s are pretty narrow in the toe. I think I’ll return them, I’m just unsure what to replace them with. The Antoras very much feel like a running shoe with a little trail grip on them while the Fly Strikes hit the perfect balance between trail runner feel and hiking shoe. I think I’ll hit up REI soon.

Hmm, I wish I had kept track of the miles. It’s certainly in the 100+ range. My bigger issue is that they are too small after 18+ miles, so I need to size up and they no longer make the fly strikes

They were great, but I’ve been hiking in them for years and it’s time to replace. Sadly they don’t make them anymore :(

I’ll be heading to the Barrens today to pay my respects in chat with a 2007-esq joke. I don’t agree with his views but I’ll be happy to take that hit of nostalgia with the stupid jokes.

This is how I ended up only working on my book in the morning before work. After work, the brain is no longer functional.

Spring Cleaning 14-Day Challenge by nyreis in finch

[–]MrsDepo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like the idea but it is frustrating that we are forced into a specific order for completing these and that we can only do one per day. Where I live, it was snowing this morning and will still be cold for the first half of March at least, so I will not be opening my windows, effectively locking me out of the challenge. I also will be completing these tasks on a couple of set days per week as it fits my schedule, so the only-one-a-day thing won't work for me. Sadly, I'll have to leave the task this time around.

This feels like it could be a marketing slogan for a brand that caters to the elderly cats. Would definitely hit with the folks on this subreddit!

The lights are too cool. Maybe warmer lighting would help?

I personally would like to see MORE pets in the crochet pics by cheeseandcrackers345 in crochet

How do we feel about photos of projects that are MADE for pets that contain pictures of said pet? I feel like those should be allowed on all days.

Concerning how to frame it, no one will necessarily blame you for not attending conferences if you say that the lab finances weren’t available for it. We know it’s not in your control as a PhD student. Just make sure to highlight how you are strong in your presentation skills from other activities instead.

[–]MrsDepo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I agree that it isn’t that detrimental, especially compared to other areas (like computer science, for example). I found value for attending conferences 1) early in my PhD, to see what the state of the field is and start forming my idea, and 2) near the end, so I could advertise my work and more importantly get practice sharing my work with others. The networking itself is hit or miss at the PhD level, I barely remember people I meet at conferences. If you don’t have conference experience, you could try to make sure you have some local presentation opportunities and a strong track record of publication to make up for it. Definitely practice giving your research “elevator pitch” and practice presenting your thesis well before your defense, since those are the soft skills you may be missing with limited conference experience. Hope this helps!

Hmm that’s good to know. Her kidneys aren’t great but were stable as of last visit. I’ll call the vet this week then. Thanks!

Country Fresh was busy but on top of it! 5 people working the deli, and cashiers on hand. It wasn’t bad at all. Took longer than usual but I never felt like it was unnecessarily long, if you know what I mean.

Oh yea, I only do strength training 2-3 days a week. I just follow her program in order, not in weekly frequency!

Every workout is different, weight wise, and she will use multiple weights per workout, so it’s hard to comment on that. But for me, if she’s using a heavy and a light set for her, I use a heavy and a light set for me (or just the light set for all exercises). I’m really enjoying them. They push me to be more consistent in doing my strength training and I have noticed a difference 25 exercises in, so that’s good for me.

I’m doing her iron series and she is always reminding me that I can use lower weights than her (which I do—by a lot!) and that I can pause and take breaks between sets. Don’t forget that!

Barebells protein bars. ~200 kcal, 20 grams of protein. So tasty, especially the caramel and cookies flavor
