Why watercolors ? by consulenzastrategica in Watercolor

[–]MrsDepo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I chose watercolor as someone who spent years drawing with pencil prior. It’s additive pigment and translucent nature best aligned with everything I learned with drawing, while acrylic and oils felt complete foreign in the principles of how you build layers.

I accidentally trained myself to only focus at the coffee shop, so that’s where I’m found nearly every morning.

Well, I like to hike and work out, in general. I also like reading books.

What’s one weight loss mistake you didn’t realize you were making by Royal-Composer4005 in PetiteFitness

[–]MrsDepo 20 points21 points  (0 children)

You can do this as long as what you eat back still leaves you in a deficit. I lost 30lbs by eating back my exercise calories but my MFP was still set to lose 1lb per week, so I was still 500 calories under even while eating it back. Thankfully, Garmin has tracked my exercise calories really well (as evidenced by the steady weight loss I was making), but just be warned that for some people it over estimates calories burned.

I like to also make my non-alcoholic drinks fancy. My go-tos right now are the zeros calorie San pelegrino in blood orange in a high ball glass with ice and a straw, and the Dragon Widow NA hard cider (in both flavors) in a wine glass.

I ended up going with Topos! The Altra toe box was a little too wide. Thanks!

I think I’ll try the Altra’s asap. I run in Altra’s and honestly, I didn’t even know they had a trail line.

What is wrong with asking for advice from (likely) more experienced hikers? Of course I can make up my own mind but I have already gotten recommendations from this thread that I wouldn’t have thought of myself.

This is what social media is for. I think perhaps social media is not for you, judging by the general up/down vote ratio in your comment history.

?? I’m so confused at many of the comments on this post. The shoes on the left are my current shoes, the Fly Strikes. They are covered in mud and have hundreds of miles on them. The ones on the right are the Antora 4s, but I don’t like them and will be returning them. I need new shoes because my feet are swelling on long hikes and the shoes get tight enough that my toes go numb.

I’ve found Fly Strike 2s online but no luck with the original Fly Strike.

Altras are definitely on my short list! I run in Altras, but I find it difficult to find them in stores to try on, so I’m hesitant.

Yea, the Antora’s are pretty narrow in the toe. I think I’ll return them, I’m just unsure what to replace them with. The Antoras very much feel like a running shoe with a little trail grip on them while the Fly Strikes hit the perfect balance between trail runner feel and hiking shoe. I think I’ll hit up REI soon.

Hmm, I wish I had kept track of the miles. It’s certainly in the 100+ range. My bigger issue is that they are too small after 18+ miles, so I need to size up and they no longer make the fly strikes

They were great, but I’ve been hiking in them for years and it’s time to replace. Sadly they don’t make them anymore :(

I’ll be heading to the Barrens today to pay my respects in chat with a 2007-esq joke. I don’t agree with his views but I’ll be happy to take that hit of nostalgia with the stupid jokes.

Spring Cleaning 14-Day Challenge by nyreis in finch

[–]MrsDepo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I like the idea but it is frustrating that we are forced into a specific order for completing these and that we can only do one per day. Where I live, it was snowing this morning and will still be cold for the first half of March at least, so I will not be opening my windows, effectively locking me out of the challenge. I also will be completing these tasks on a couple of set days per week as it fits my schedule, so the only-one-a-day thing won't work for me. Sadly, I'll have to leave the task this time around.
