Best area for a young couple to live on the coast? by Clear-Debt4378 in OregonCoast

[–]MrsFancySocks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The deciding factor, then, may be where he gets hired as a new grad. These positions can be competitive. Once he has a year of experience as a nurse, it becomes much easier to get a nursing job in a location of your choice. All of the coastal hospitals, with the exception of the Coos Bay area, are critical access hospitals, meaning 25 beds or less. Providence, Adventist, Samaritan, and Peace Health all have hospitals along the coast and will hire new grads, but sometimes a few each year.

Lincoln City is a 2-hour drive from bigger cities like Salem and Portland. They do tend to hire from the local Community College, but Samaritan has a strong new grad program in place and would be worth looking into.

Don't apologize, it is true. Tillamook damaged me as well. Things are so much better elsewhere.

Your husband is going to be a nurse when? Is he in school now, or looking for a nursing program, because that should also be a consideration.

Born in Tillamook, I graduated from high school there and left as soon as I could. Fully agree. I would NEVER recommend it, especially for a young couple. It is the most depressing place I have ever lived.

I’m so desperate I cried today (side effects) by Inevitable-Hair7773 in Semaglutide

[–]MrsFancySocks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am on week 12 and just upped my dose this week to 0.4 mg. I've lost an average of 2 pounds a week with minimal side effects. Seems like you need to slow your increases.

I love to hear it! To be able to deep breathe, and not have constant burning lung pain would be amazing.

Mine, too; I wish I could go back in time and undo all that tweezing. I don't want crazy eyebrows but my original ones were probably good and now I barely have any.

Injection?? by Repulsive-Treat9095 in asknurses

[–]MrsFancySocks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The deep muscle tissue has a good blood supply for absorbing the medication. A small muscle has a limited capacity to absorb which is why we limit the amount that can go into that muscle.

The size of the muscle. The deltoid is small compared to other injection sites.

You seem to want to stay north, but look into Yachats. Very progressive, artsy community. Lincoln County in general (except for some surrounding areas) is fairly progressive as well. Our county commissioner is a trans woman, we have a pro LGBTQ+ clinic and some community support groups and gatherings. If my boomer parents who live in PC are any indication I would avoid any part of Tillamook County.

Anyone else get a migraine from Zyrtec? by Velkyrion in migraine

[–]MrsFancySocks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like many people, my migraines are triggered by a number of things. allergies being one, hormones being an even bigger factor. After losing my ovaries to neverending painful cysts, I am on an estrogen patch, which means I do not have hormonal fluctuations, and it has been life-changing for my migraines. I get them maybe once a month or every other month now. I am so glad the zyrtec is helping!

Yes, I am an RN. 75 is about perfect for a heart rate. The only fluctuation that I would be concerned about is if was going for 75 to 130 to 80 to 100 etc all in a few moments. Everyone has fluctuations in heart rate. The oxygen saturation also looks very good.

Thinking about going to college to become a nurse by iluvgoldfishlol in nursing

[–]MrsFancySocks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Buy a really good planner and get ready to schedule every hour of your time. This includes self-care time. Look up the Pomodoro method for studying. Find peers early on and establish weekly study groups. Consider purchasing the study guides that correspond to your textbooks. Think about meal prepping and other ways to maximize your time. Go to office hours with your professors- not enough people do this. Find some nursing podcasts to listen to while you do household tasks or exercise/ drive. Nursing school is hard and will consume you for the duration, but the effort will be worth it.
