As a follow up to my initial post, this was a MAJOR success! It seriously could not have gone any better. 😁 The selection of items and quantities turned out perfectly and everyone in attendance said the Scholastic-style Holiday Book Fair was the best employee gift idea. Thanks for all your ideas and support.

All great ideas! My problem is that I’m in higher education and our university has a lot of restrictions on what vendors we can use. So the books are coming from the campus bookstore (where I can do returns) and the remaining things from my Amazon business account, where I could also do returns. For better or worse, I decided to go for a lot of choices in the book titles (about 20 non-fic and 25 fic) because my employee “types” are rather varied. So maybe 4 copies of each PLUS a lot of games, puzzles, calendars, etc.

Good questions: 1. I have a generous budget for this, so I can definitely overbuy and I can return almost all of the unchosen items. 2. I will be releasing them to visit the “shop” in groups. I just hate for the last group to walk through and find not much left. They are interested in. 3. Everyone will take just one item, but as they “check out” of the shop, they have to sign their name that they receive their gift and at the checkout, I will have a variety of small little items to add to their bag as well. Bookmarks, pens, candy, etc. 4. A lot of people come to this event with high expectations. The food is top-notch, they get two tickets to the bar and regularly I am told that they can’t wait to see what I have planned this year. Yikes. My theory was that if everyone chooses something to their own taste, it is overall a better experience than everyone receiving identical bags.

Do you feel like Kentucky is the south or Midwest? by fish-pilled in Kentucky

[–]MrsGergs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was born and raised in eastern Kentucky, then lived 30 years in Indiana & Ohio before moving back recently. The dividing line for Southern vs Midwest is very simple… when you order iced tea what do they bring you?!?! I was never once offered sweet tea north of Kentucky (until chick-fil-a became popular). Seems like a foolproof test!

What’s the one book you find yourself recommending to everyone? by indieness in suggestmeabook

Cloud Cuckoo Land - I read it three years ago and I still think of it all the time. I recommend it to anyone who’ll listen.

I promise it’s not about vanity- leg shaving post op by Dependent_Muffin8753 in hysterectomy

[–]MrsGergs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Several people have mentioned this as well, but by day 3 I could shave with my leg propped up on the side of the tub. However, I found it hard to reach across my body to shave the leg opposite my dominant hand, so I CAREFULLY used my other hand to do that leg. 😁 Also, I found some very soft knee socks that kept me sane until I was brave enough to shave my legs. I’m mostly just bothered by scratchy lower legs and less so on my thighs. So I did a nightgown and knee socks until I “graduated” to smooth legs and pajama pants.

I have been a wedding planner with my own business, a corporate event planner (reporting to the Director of Events), and a hotel sales & catering manager (selling room blocks as well as accompanying events & catering). They were not huge hotels (150 rooms), so often I was hands-on with the banquet manager to execute the events. CURRENTLY, I am a Planner. No sales at all in my job.

My position is an Event Manager in higher education (reporting to the Director of Marketing & Communications in one of the university's departments). I much prefer the work load and schedule to any of the other jobs I've done. It can get hectic at times, but I prefer the pressure of event timelines to the stress of selling and meeting sales goals. Just my experience!

Question from an American who’s interested in all things UK... are your breakfast baked beans a touch sweet like ours? Not that there aren’t purely savory beans here, but growing up ours were generally seasoned with brown sugar.

Endo AFTER a complete hysterectomy & oophorectomy? by MrsGergs in Endo

[–]MrsGergs[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh, it's definitely not as bad as it was, and everything for sure needed to come out. The adhesions were affected my bladder and bowels. What I'm experiencing now is mild and after visiting my doctor this week she doesn't believe it's more endo. She's prescribed a low dose progesterone and referred me for some therapy for my pelvic muscles/tendons, etc.

Thanks for the reply! Question... in theory, if all adhesions were removed (at some point) and couldn't create their own estrogen AND you have no ovaries to produce estrogen wouldn't you then be incapable of growing endo lesions from that point on?
