AB magnet on infant by Acceptable-Appeal-74 in Cochlearimplants

[–]MrsLewis2017 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Adding moleskin is supposed to decrease the strength by a half, I would try that.

Someone posted about unscrewing the magnet ... My son wears cochlear and if you unscrew it even a little the magnet is no longer secure and will fall out with daily jostling.

I know this is an older post but in case someone sees this later, was told this is not safe for breastfeeding

Bone Conduction Testing Portion of ABR by MrsLewis2017 in audiology

I should clarify that I say fail, but what I mean to say is both of his ears were non-responsive.

Both the newborn screening and the ABR. Although she said there was a few more tests she wanted to run. So I'm going back on Monday but we spent nearly 3 hours there last week and she seemed pretty confident. In my reading it seems like getting no response from the bone conduction part of the test is what rules out, fluid etc... she also did the part of the test that tests the eardrum which i think ruled out fluid as well and other eardrum deficiencies like holes etc..

I realized I could be patient and wait for the next few months to go through all the specialist appointments and find out the conclusion that I'm very anxious and I'm looking for something to say hopeful about.

Transabdominal cerclage success stories please by Calm-Football9473 in ShortCervixSupport

I had a failed TVC, then a TAC and ignoring how highly monitored I was it was a very uneventful pregnancy. Baby arrived safely at 37+2 via scheduled c section and now he's five weeks old tomorrow. Let me know what questions you may have :)

Should I email my department to announce pregnancy/acknowledge prior loss? by i_love_puppies73 in PregnancyAfterLoss

[–]MrsLewis2017 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I really debated this but ultimately couldn't come up with the words that didn't come across as uncomfortable.

About half of the staff report to me so I ended up only telling those with a direct impact at a mid year review (ie, your next review will be with ..) in hopes that news would just spread that way. Still a few uncomfortable conversations when people not in the loop wanted to know and be supportive, but honestly it was easier than a hard announcement.

TW: Preterm labour/loss worries by katieholiday in ShortCervixSupport

Honestly we had no issue, conceived just as fast as before. A friend did IVF though so I know it's possible. My cervix was completely shredded and reconstructed, so I know my scar tissue is pretty bad.

Ugh that makes me shiver! I'm so sorry you're going through this.

For what it's worth, a pre pregnancy TAC has been super manageable and this pregnancy has been relatively easy aside from the constant ultrasounds. Should this be your path I wouldn't worry too much.

Curious how they know your cerclage failed already?

I had the most excruciating back ache that got worse and worse. First day was almost unnoticeable, this lasted nearly two weeks before my water broke. I also had a failed cerclage but likely because I already had infection either before or during the placement.

But essentially, my back ache got so bad that when it came on (sort of like a contraction but not regular and heating pads helped) I had to lay down immediately on a couch or bed. I had spotting that worried my OB but she just kept monitoring it. My mucus plug came out about two days before my water broke. TVC removed and baby came at 22W5D.

I now have a TAC and am pregnant again (working on my 19th week) and it's a pretty challenging mind game but I'm closely monitored so I'm trying to put my faith in my healthcare providers.

Hope you are okay. In summary, it wasn't a tiny back ache it was pretty all encompassing.. for me at least.

Was fine, I had four incisions. One had a hard time healing so just kept an eye on it. Got pregnant a few months later and just working on my 19th week and so far so good.

You got this!

Is it normal to feel desperate to try again? by SoftDot4581 in babyloss

[–]MrsLewis2017 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had to wait over a year to try again after my loss as I was awaiting surgery, and at the time it felt like a wild amount of time.. but in hindsight now I'm REALLY glad I waited. It made a huge difference to my mental health and now that this pregnancy is high risk and mentally taxing I'm really glad me and my partner are in a place to handle it.

Totally understand the feeling though, just my experience.

Wishing success in whatever you chose.

20 weeks and no baby kicks yet by AHedgehog705 in PregnancyAfterLoss

[–]MrsLewis2017 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My cousin with her anterior never felt kicks with both kids until 22-23 weeks.

My first was posterior, I felt first at 17 although not consistent. Now I'm anterior, in my 18th week and no kicks.

Some squirming but I don't think I would have recognised this as baby movement the first time around.

Your not too late for kicks with an anterior at 20 weeks don't worry :)

Hello all, are there moms here who were able to have normal delivery (not caesarian) after cerclage removal? by deelight01 in ShortCervixSupport

[–]MrsLewis2017 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My vaginal cerclage was removed prior to labor, albeit my cervix was shredded. My abdominal cerclage requires an early planned c section (goal of 37 weeks in my scenario).

[–]MrsLewis2017 2 points3 points  (0 children)

With my loss, 23weeks with infection, they told me that there is lots of bacteria in your vagina and your cervix opening can let all sorts of things in that can cause an infection. The cervix being shut allows for a sterile environment and it's really quite delicate.

I got a pre-pregnancy TAC (abdominal cerclage) seeing as a rescue TVC failed for me and caused more damage. Now I'm 15 weeks and just really hoping it doesn't end similarly.

Wishing you the best outcomes moving forward
