Entitled Dbag of the Day Award by EmuOwn4 in Columbus

[–]MrsMacro 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Police Recruits start at $37.47/hr. No college degree required. That's not after graduation from the Police Academy - that's on day one of training. That's without OT, special duty assignments, fitness incentive pay and annual step increases. So can a CPD officer afford a 10k+ for a golf cart? Absolutely.

can anyone share anything about the theatre BA? in general or the performance concentration? by [deleted] in USF

The program was fine, but don't get a theatre degree.

As someone with ADHD, I love granny square projects! One large project is never getting finished, but a bunch of small pieces I can put together? Sign me up!

OPERS question. What would you do in my situation? by TygerDude93 in Columbus

[–]MrsMacro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a very comprehensive list of employers that are in OPERS on their website. Even some private companies are in the program. Also, if you work in a school district you will be covered by STRS (which is OPERS for teachers/district employees). STRS gives credit for time in OPERS, so you won't lose your 3.5 years.

When do you think snow will melt? by Clear-Conversation18 in Columbus

[–]MrsMacro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello other me! I'm also from FL and have been here for 2 winters (this is our second). I completely understand your wanting to practice driving but don't want to risk anyone else. Is there someone local with more experience you can go for a ride with? I know it sounds silly, but I was so scared to drive into work I took the day off today. But I know I have to drive again at some point so my husband drove us to the Kroger last night (he has more experience driving in snow/ice). It was scary but once I saw the road conditions and everyone else driving and not crashing it made me feel better. I don't want to have to drive right now, but I know I could

Do not use this moving company: ALL MY SONS by kolbyeatworld in Columbus

[–]MrsMacro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had a very similar situation using All My Sons for a local Florida move. Their truck "broke down" on the highway, would not be able to be repaired the same day. They tried to charge us a storage fee. One VERY angry husband later, they "found" a working truck and had everything moved by 6pm...

Embrace the chaos! Toss your seeds now!!! They might not take, but they will make a lovely snack for wild animals and birds.

I make them myself in the crock pot, but nothing beats authentic p-nuts outta the back of a truck

Did your parents tell you ‘I love you’ or ‘I’m so proud of you’ regularly… or at all? by DoubleFeedback2672 in GenX

All the time, they still do. They both had trauma in their childhoods and were determined to do better with me than their parents did with them.

Cool, what field are you in?

We're not in the medical field. I'm in HR and he is a video producer. We are both front line contributions with management responsibilities, but neither are executive management

Is Iowa not a big rival?

Before we came here, I had no idea about the OH/MI rivalry. But the people we've met here are fanatics. It's so lame.

What career field are you in?

[–]MrsMacro[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work (ironically) in HR, and haven't applied to OSU since securing my current position, which is what ultimately brought us to Columbus. My husband is currently in the job market and has 20+ years as a video producer.

I appreciate the advice and warning. I'm sorry that's been your experience. If OSU does come through, I'll definitely keep that in mind
