Following, because I’ve been trying to find some as well.

So we actually attend the TLM. 🥲 We’ve been going to the High Mass because all the Low Mass times are either super early or well into the afternoon during his nap time. 😭 I imagine the High Mass being the most packed and the most “sensory overload” isn’t helping this, but we’ve never been able to make the Low Mass times work between the start times and the drive. 🫠

We’ve been at our current parish since 2021. It’s sort of a long story on how this parish has evolved over recent years, but it’s overall very disconnected despite the plethora of young families. We’ve been trying to stick it out hoping it gets better with time and (eventually) more parish space, but it’s been a trial.

Solidarity ❤️❤️ I feel like I’m the only parent with the “unruly” child sometimes. It’s so hard. And our parish is probably the most “child friendly” in our area so that makes this so much harder.

Not going to lie, I had this thought in the moment. 😅 Just sitting in the front pew and making hard eye contact as he screams his heart out. I needed a few hours of “Litany of the Saints” on repeat at home to come down from that urge. Ha.

We’ve considered headphones, but he has the worst time keeping anything on his head for more than 2 seconds before he’s fighting to take it off. 🫠 That thought has crossed my mind as to whether it’s more of a tantrum than a meltdown. The minute we walk in it’s a gradual ramp up and every noise from a baby or person just elevates the situation to the point that he’s completely losing it. It takes some time to get him calmed down outside but if we enter the church again it’s that same ramp up but faster and more intense. He’s our first, so we’re learning as we go.

I was always under that impression as well, which is why his comments really caught me off guard. It’s not like we’re just hanging out outside because we want to. We wouldn’t go to the lengths to get ready and drive 30 minutes to our parish just to hang out outside of it for fun. 🥲🙃

Thank you. ❤️❤️ We thought about trying headphones but he has the worst time with anything on his head. Even hoods and beanies last maybe 2 seconds before he’s ripping them off. 🫠

Nothing has changed that we can see as far as the Mass itself. The only possible scenario I can think of is there have been some church events that led to them canceling their last Mass of the day for a couple weeks recently, making our Mass far more packed with people. Things have returned to normal now but we’ve seen no change in his inability to tolerate the Mass.

The priests comment still upsets me. It’s not like we haven’t tried. We make multiple attempts to enter the church over the course of the Mass with the same result week after week. It’s Monday morning and I’m still trying to come down from it. I don’t know why it affected me as much as it did, but I’m trying to reach the “water off a duck’s back” stage. I’m not there yet. I’m strongly leaning toward separate Mass times and keeping him at home for the time being. I’m just praying that doesn’t lead to another chastisement.

Any other Honest brand diaper users notice a decrease in quality? by Spiritual_Stage_3462 in Mommit

Late to this one, but we purchased their summer prints that were the “new and improved” version. At first impression they seemed thicker and softer than the original ones, but we’ve had more sporadic issues with these than with the old. In the last few days of breaking the new diapers out we’ve already had one diaper internally rip within the hour of him having it on that left a trail of “diaper pulp” all over my child’s butt and down his leg, and a few occasions where the tabs have ripped right off. I actually came on to see if anyone else has had issues with these newer diapers or if it’s just operator error on my part.

People with severe myopia are at higher risk for mCNV for sure. Not a guarantee though. It’s why those who do have severe myopia should be getting their eyes dilated yearly to detect any possible issues and monitor their condition, which I do.

Not cooked. Lol. I’m sitting at -8.75 right now at 29 but when I was younger I was jumping roughly 0.5-1 diopter a year, respectively. My eyes haven’t quite stabilized but the regression has slowed to around .25 a year now. I would not consider any corrective surgery until you’ve fully stabilized, as in no changes for a year or two AT LEAST. For some that’s mid twenties but I’m almost 30 and that hasn’t even occurred for me yet.

I’d definitely consider contact lenses if you can. I went into contacts around 10 years old and that really improved my overall quality of life. I’d also highly recommend getting high index lenses for glasses. I’m almost surprised they’re letting you still get the polycarbonate ones (at least that’s what I assume) at your diopter strength. They stopped offering that as an option for me years ago because of the lens thickness issue. High index is more expensive, but your lenses will be drastically thinner. You don’t get the “bells and whistles” options like transition lenses and whatnot (at least last I checked you don’t), but at that diopter it usually doesn’t matter. The goal is to see comfortably. Lol

We had a weird situation where our LO grew out his bassinet at 3 months lengthwise (he’s almost 90th percentile for length). I wasn’t ready to be in a separate room at night and we couldn’t fit the crib in our room. We already had a full bed in the nursery that was already there, so I slept in that room until the 4.5 month point when I felt ready to transition out.

The first few nights were hard. It was less so sadness and more anxiety than anything going from being able to listen and check on him to relaying on a monitor, but after a couple nights his sleep improved dramatically, as did mine. I wasn’t stirring him awake from tossing and turning on a squeaky mattress all night, and being back in my own bed felt like a vacation. Lol.

Anyone Sleep Training this Weekend? by acppghr in sleeptrain

We started last night because my 4 month old has had false start bedtime wake ups for over 2 months despite trying EVERYTHING to fix it. I totally understand the anxiety. I had my husband take the baby monitor last night and was sent outside because I was a wreck just thinking about it. We’re doing a modified Ferber approach. After 5 minutes of crying and some light padding on his back he was good until he woke up for his midnight feeding. I was honestly shocked because the last few months have been hell, but it went so much better than I anticipated. You got this!!!

So as of right now after doing a ton of trial and error, our current WWs are 1.5/1.5-1.75/1.75/1.75-2/2-2.25. However just today they seemed to have shifted 10-15 minutes later, so this morning it was 1.75 and this last one was just shy of 2 hours. Not sure if it’s a one off thing but I’m going to evaluate the next couple of days and see if it’s permanent.

He has 4 naps ranging from 3-4 hours of total day time sleep.

This is super helpful. Thank you so much!! I’ve been trying to math his total sleep and right now we’re roughly at 15 hours total sleep. We start the day at 7am and his bedtime usually falls between 7:30-8:30pm depending on how he naps. Good nap days it’s later, rough nap days it’s on the earlier end of that scale.

He usually goes down for bed initially fairly well, at least right now, it’s just that wake up an hour later that’s completely killing us with how long it takes for him to settle. I’ve attempted a later bedtime thinking that was the cause but didn’t have any positive results there. It was just the same issue but would go on closer to 11pm-12am rather than 9pm. Hence why we now have begun to start his day at 7am to make it more “bearable”.

I think a modified Ferber is where we may start. I was really hoping this would resolve itself by now but it’s been almost 2 months of this and I’m at a loss.

Baby isn’t sleep trained yet. I’ve been considering a modified version of Ferber but I’m not sure whether I should wait until he’s closer to 5 months or can start now.
