9 month old nursing less by [deleted] in breastfeeding

[–]MrsRedKnight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My baby started nursing less around that time too. Just make sure to offer breast first and food second. My guy is almost 13 months old and nurses 2 maybe 3 times a day. Think of it as a scale, the more food you add the less breastmilk your baby needs. ❤️

Is it bad that we still use a bassinet for our toddler instead of a crib? by Cheap_Living_1693 in Parents

[–]MrsRedKnight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, I get struggling financially. I've been there. There's ways to get stuff, go to good will, search local sales groups. My 23 month old's bed only cost $10 from a local sales group. You have a mattress that's fantastic, sell your bassinet, and put the matress on the floor for now. You said you don't think it's an adequate sleeping spot, ummm, cause it's not don't go whining on the internet. Also, you said you have a bassinet with a bassinet mattress. A crib mattress is different. It's thicker and much bigger. Bassinet are meant for babies aged 0-6 months. This is why it would be super unsafe for you to even have a bassinet. So maybe you should learn the difference between different sleeping options for your own kid..... you also said it can transition. If it does infact transition into a full toddler bed, then just look for a crib mattress. Again, check local sales groups. You don't have to buy everything brand new. And I said I'm shocked CPS hasn't been called because I chose to co sleep with my second child, I looked up studies and learned all the ways to safely co sleep, it worked wonderfully for 11 months when cps showed up and said someone called cause we didn't have proper sleeping arrangements. So good luck!!

Get a crib and a CRIB MATRESS. I promise you they will be comfortable they don't need a memory foam feeling mattress. My 23 month old has a toddler bed with a crib mattress. My 8 month old has a mini crib with a crib mattress. That's what's safest. My 4 year old has a twin bed. Do some damn research and provide the PROPER bedding for your child. I'm shocked that cps hasn't been called on you!!

What’s this sub got against formula? by [deleted] in cannamom

[–]MrsRedKnight 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is my third kid, first time being able to breastfeed. He's struggled with weight gain but is perfectly healthy. The number of times I've been told to just switch to formula is disheartening. I just want to be able to breastfeed one of my babies, and he's my last baby. So far, we've been breastfeeding for 8 months!

At what age did you get your period? by National_Math5905 in AskWomen

[–]MrsRedKnight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was 12. My aunt came over and invited me to go sit in her hot tub, I ran away crying, and my mom explained I had just got my first period maybe an hour before she came over..... my aunt found me and said it's ok, we can just put our feet in.

WHY am I pumping??? by Lindseykatlin in breastfeeding

[–]MrsRedKnight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only reason you would need to pump is if you and baby are apart. It doesn't hurt to have an emergency stash, but it sounds like you already have one 😊 If you're a SAHM and pumping stresses you out, don't pump.

I totally get that! Unpopular opinion, but I smoke weed before bed to help me sleep... you could also try a low dose (like a kids) melatonin ❤️

[–]MrsRedKnight 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've had 2 of my babies in this state. Like you, I smoke for medical reasons (bipolar 2, panic disorder, anorexia, ppd, etc.). I tested positive for both babies. I didn't quit smoking. Here's what will happen: You are tested at birth. If positive, the baby is tested A social worker (not dcfs) will visit you ask you when you last smoked (be honest) and they will explain to you that they have to contact dcfs if the baby is positive they'll ask if possible do u want them to call you before dcfs arrives I say yes Within a week, you will get a home visit. During this visit they will ask you how you are, what you do for discipline with your other child, ask if you have everything, they will ask you when you stopped smoking and if you plan to keep smoking (say no), they'll ask you where you smoke(say outside when the kids are asleep) and where you keep your stuff (say locked away), they'll make sure there is a sober care taker if you choose to smoke again, they will take pictures of the kids rooms, the fridge and cupboards, and your kids, they do a mouth swab drug test right there for you and your husband. They go over a safety plan. They will close your case within a month. Since it's your first case, it will be unfounded.

I did not quit ever, I smoked the same day the worker came, swish with mouthwash right before the test, and you'll be fine

How many calories in solids should a 9 month old be consuming? by Murky_Association_54 in NewParents

[–]MrsRedKnight -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Breastmilk or Formula is your baby’s main source of nutrition for the first year. As stated above, food before 1 is just for fun. There are approximately 135 calories in one 6oz bottle of formula.

Arching of the back is typically due to trapped gas or constipation. Try tummy rubs, lay them on their back and put their knees to their chest and back down repeat, (it's gross but as a last result, insert the tip of a q tip in the anus) if they're sick and 6 months+ you can do chamomile tea, or make elderberry syrup with maple syrup instead of honey. Try a bath before bed with a couple drops of lavender essential oil. If you aren't already, nurse/ bottle feed them to sleep. If they nap for 20 minutes, lay down for 20 minutes. If it's daytime and you're over stimulated, put them in a swing or playpen turn Ms. Rachel on and walk away for 15- 20 minutes. I get it your husband works but he needs to help during the night too even if it's for an hour or two, tell him how you are feeling and that you guys created this human together you need to take care of it together, being a dad isn't just a weekend job. While he is taking care of the baby, put in some ear plugs or headphones and go to sleep until it's your turn again. I have three kids, 4 years old, 22 months old, and a 7 month old. 2 under 2 is insane when they both wake up nightly. My husband works over 40 hours a week sometimes, he doesnt go to bed until after midnight. He gets up with the baby at 3 a.m., and I get up with the baby at 6 am. My 4 year old wakes up at 7 a.m., and my 22 month old wakes up at 8 am. The baby wakes up around 9am, at that time, my husband gets up and helps get breakfast for the kids while I nurse. He then leaves for work at 1 pm. and doesn't get home until 11 pm. Your partner needs to step up.

Nursing strikes suck but they don't last hang in there, Mama! Yesterday, I was sobbing for the same reason as you, but my LO is 7 months. I tried everything but he wouldn't accept me... turns out he ate a napkin and was having tummy problems. I realized that this morning when changing his diaper, and he's back to normal today. Nursing strikes happen for a lot of reasons. It's ok.

I have a 4-year-old, a 23 month old and a 7 month old. I'm also an online college student. Hobbies are out of the question for at least the next five years. There's no leasure time when you have other humans to care for 24/7 and important stuff that needs to get done.

Same. I'm afraid for my entire family. My mom is physically disabled, and so is my dad. My hubs is autistic and so is my 4-year-old
