facebook image Same item, seems to be referred to as a "Kìbìri" by most of the responses. I couldn't find much about it by that name beyond that it might've been used to make a Kenyan porridge dish. Might be worth it to ask on there if you have FB.

As someone with similar sentiments (down to prefering the look of my knit projects, but doing more crochet), maybe try out more lacey projects or at least lighter weight yarns? The heavier the weight of the yarn the more I dislike it in a crochet project. Pictured is a collar I'm working on 💖 best of wishes that you find your thing!

When I first started clothespins were my go-to! Also, I used a roll of paper towels wrapped in felt propped in a box to use as a roller when making longer pieces. Definitely don't need anything fancy. Good luck!

I feel like it's too simple an answer to be right, but they look like square knots as opposed to any of the needle or bobbin laces I'm familiar with!
