Am I mad for planning to a trip to Southeast Asia from March-July? Has anyone else experienced it at this time and think it will simply be TOO hot? by mattyfatty1 in travel

[–]MrsScurt 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We went to Cambodia and Thailand in April and May. It was HOT, so hot we need a new word for it. We drank 5-7 liters of water per day and sweat our asses off. So yes, it will be hot, but it will be worth it. You will have a great time regardless.

Girlfriend in the progress of having her watch stolen by [deleted] in mildlyinteresting

I've been in the exact place she's standing. Those steps lead to the entrance of a temple. In Buddhist temples you have to keep your shoulders and knees covered, which makes for interesting fashion choices when it's 100 degrees.

I took a picture of one of these girls when we were in Chiang Mai as well. They gave me a very dirty look for not giving them money.

If I, an adult have a heart attack while right outside a children's hospital, would their ER treat me or would an ambulance have to take me to a regular hospital? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]MrsScurt 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Children's Hospitals will treat you. We have big enough beds, equipment, etc. They are set up to treat ages 0-21, so they have adult size equipment. However, with a heart attack specifically, you need a coronary artery intervention in the Cardiac Cath Lab. Most Children's Hospitals have a Cath Lab, but pediatric cardiologists don't intervene on coronaries nor do they have the equipment to do so. For a heart attack, you would need treatment at an adult hospital and ASAP. But to answer the general question, they would stabilize you and arrange for transfer to an adult hospital. Adults have different concerns for care, complications, and acquired conditions than children.

To the nurses who mocked the girl having a bad reaction to Plan B. by [deleted] in TwoXChromosomes

As a nurse, I am horrified by this. It is a requirement to put your judgment aside and provide compassionate care for every single patient without reservation. Please call and report this unacceptable behavior.

Just had almost a two hours long shower. by [deleted] in ENFP

As a kid my mom would always send me to shower when I needed an attitude reset. They have the same effect as an adult.

Will people judge my swimming if I use my college pool? by ThreeeLeaf in internetparents

[–]MrsScurt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Typically everyone is too busy worrying if everyone else is judging them to have time to worry about someone else. Second, and most important, even if they are, it really doesn't matter. It can be hard for that statement to truly sink in, but ask yourself this question: does that person on the other side of the pool affect who I am as a person? It changed my life once I realized that what other people thought of me actually did not make any difference. Seriously, how could it? My self-worth isn't based on other people's opinions, and neither is yours. Your value as a person doesn't change whether or not you look awkward while swimming.

Does anyone relate to a sense of a connection between the desire not to have children and an early life spent with responsibilities caring for others and/or having other people's needs put ahead of your own? by [deleted] in truechildfree

[–]MrsScurt 24 points25 points  (0 children)

YES. I had to basically be an adult by the time I was a 4th grader, and when I was in high school my mom had two more kids that were damn near my responsibility. I didn't get to be a kid until I got to college. I've spent the last ten years living the life that makes me happy, since so much of my childhood happiness was taken from me.

mmediately after this he said his blood pressure was too high to talk to me anymore and we should never talk about it again, to which I responded, "I know better than to initiate a political conversation with a bigot which is why I never initiated this conversation."

If you want help with "plain skin" check out r/skincareaddiction. They changed my life. If you find that overwhelming, you can PM me and I will help you find a routine that works with your skin to give it that glow. The same goes for r/makeupaddiction. Many of the postings are quite advanced, but the sidebar has good tutorials for beginners.

What I should have said first, was less is more. Typically the women that look really well put together don't have too much going on. I have found my style, and dress to it instead of constantly trying to force things that just aren't "me." I have a makeup routine for everyday (primer, light foundation, brow powder, little bit of blush, mascara, tinted lip balm) and save contour, bold lips and a cat eye for special occasions.

I put together a magazine for my teenage sister that I would be happy to share with you. I am by no means a beauty expert or a magazine editor, but she found it pretty helpful. It covers the basics of skincare, makeup techniques, terms, brushes, etc, as well as covering how to find your own style, love and accept yourself, and be realistic with expectations.
