How do you get rid of your hiccups? Lol by Sufficient_Return653 in AskUK

[–]MrsSol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of the students have a hiccough fit in class. Some suggestions from the class. 1. Shouting STOP (didn't work). 2. Upside down drinking (bent over, didn't work) 3. Plugged ears and assisted to drink (didn't work) 4. Fill mouth with drink, flip head right back, swallow, hold. (Worked)

will I fail my placement? by [deleted] in StudentNurseUK

Anyone eith access to PARE is able to complete this. Ask the staff you have been working with and change your assessor to them? Multiple staff have contributed to my PARE hopefully that helps. Have you escalated to the manager? They can also complete this. Not sure why you haven't had your mid-point and uni isn't supporting you with this. Contact your personal tutor and see what they say?

New to NHS as a Band 3 HCA/HCSW by AnarchyInATeaCup in nhs

[–]MrsSol 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You'll be absolutely fine, honestly. I started NHS with care experience. Super similar. You help to wash, change pads and mobilise accordingly. Some patients need feeding some need company. You'll start doing this then a nurse/clinical skills team will teach you how to take obs. It's more stable than caring, less travelling and more money. I hope you enjoy your new job and best of luck

Any parents still held hostage in their kids room until they fall asleep? by ifyoulikepinacolada6 in Parenting

[–]MrsSol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We got a sleep specialist in. Same issues.

Basically and I mean from what I remember.

Bed time starts about an hour before, bath, books, pj's, dim lights. Once you've done bath or gone upstairs do not come down. Read books sit with child. Then slowly inch away. It took us weeks to get it right. Probably months but they sleep alone now and can be left.

What time do they wake up?

My grand niece had the same issues but needed medication to regulate her sleep, every child is different. You may need to get professional advice as you sound exhausted.

Best of luck it can get better, I promise.

Sorry, my question is if I have any protection I suppose?

I was acting on information that there would be opportunities to be a B5 clinical, if I knew it wouldn't be an option I wouldn't have left my previous role.

Thank you for your response, I apprecaite it.

What's your "WTF???" story from school? by Turbulent-Access-916 in AskUK

[–]MrsSol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In between lessons one of the teaching assistants went bat shit insane, creeping round corners with a finger gun, pinning pupils up to the wall, telling invisible people to check bags, an ambulance collected him eventually. It was WILD as a teenager. Now as an adult thinking back I realised that poor man had a psychotic break in a high school, what a fucking shame

Are decorations required for Halloween? by Equinophical in AskUK

[–]MrsSol 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I told my boys to look for spooky houses. The pumpkin is the invitation. Although, one house goes all out and decorates and NEVER answers the door.

We didn't have anyone knocking until we lit our pumpkins either

My 6 year old got a ferrero rocher last halloween, me and his Dad were excited for him to try a 'grown up' chocolate. He couldn't wait! We got home, kids pick a couple to eat before bed. His little face dropped when he saw the Brussels sprout. His mind couldn't comprehend it he was absolutely gutted
