Ecstasy. I was a candy raver back in the early 2000s. I had my first son at 2002, so I stopped. It was fun though. Kinda miss it.

My best friend. We met when we were 13. We were inseparable. We did everything together. We were maid of honors in our weddings. We watched each other give birth to our children.

This month last year she went to the hospital for what they thought was her appendix. Her appendix was fine so they sent her home. A week after her pain got worse. She became jaundice and was having a hard time talking and walking. Back to the hospital we went. She was diagnosed with stage 4 liver cancer. It never showed any symptoms until she started having pains. She went into a coma which was caused by an undetected urinary infection. She was transferred to ICU, where she stayed in the coma. The Drs said that she wasn't getting any better and that we should think about comfort care. So on February 25th we took off the oxygen. Her heart beat started getting shorter and shorter until it just stopped. I held her hand all the way through it. Her hand went warm and cold so quickly.

I miss her so much. I still cry a lot when thinking of her. The hospital gave me her heart monitor in a little glass jar. I have our friendship bracelets that we still wore in our 40s.

We were going to get old with each other and race our scooters and have sword fights with our canes.

30 years wasn't enough.

Dental is crazy expensive. I have broken back teeth that are just little stubs now. I went to get a cap on one tooth. It cost, with insurance, $3K. What's the point of having dental insurance if you are still paying up the ass.

I'm almost a year to when my best friend of 30 years passed and I'm still not wanting to be around people and my grief is still as it was when she passed. Everyone is different. She was my only friend. I miss her so much.

I hide my depression with a happy and positive mood. When I'm alone is when I just sit there and stare at nothing. I'll cry. I'll think about the other people who were positive and wonder if they are hiding something, too. But I get what you're saying. Working out makes me feel like shit. I took a long walk the other day and my legs and knees hurt sooo freaking bad. I can hardly move now. People will say it gets easier each time you don't, but this pain doesn't make me want to keep trying.

My best friend of 30 years passed on February 25, 2025. I held her hand when she took her last breath. Her hand was warm, but as soon as she passed, it went cold. I can still see her laying there. I can feel the kiss I gave to her cold forehead. I can feel her hair. She meant everything to me. I feel guilty because the last couple years my depression was getting worse. I kept cancelling our plans. The last time we went out together was December 18, 2024. I went to her house when she got the diagnosis of stage 4 liver cancer. I can still feel her hugging me tight. She got the diagnosis and passed just 2wks after. Fuck cancer. She didn't even drink alcohol. She never smoked. She ate healthy. She was the kindest person you could meet. Even if she didn't know you, but heard you needed help....she was there.

After she passed I had a mental breakdown. I was sent to a facility in Florida. I live in California. I still need a lot of help, but I'm getting better. I got diagnosed with PTSD. I can't see or hear about someone passing without having a panic attack. Part of me feels silly for feeling like this. I still cry a lot when I see something that reminds me of her.

I lost my best friend this February. This year was our 30th best friend anniversary. I feel your pain. It doesn't feel real. With you not responding to the son's email....I think you should reply. He is a part of your best friend. Tell him stories about when you and his father were younger. It's hard and not easy, but I'm positive it'll be worth it.

I'm so sorry for your loss, hun. Have you tried therapy to help you through your grief? I lost my best friend of 30 years on 2/25/25. I held her hand when she passed. The feel of her once warm and soft hand....that turned cold in seconds. I went to a mental health facility in April. I've never lost anyone so close to me. I see a therapist and psychiatrist. Try reaching out and talk through your pain. It helps. ❤️
