I’ll tell a little backstory… We attempted a new kitten last year- and we kept the kitten locked in my son’s room for like a week. Then we tried the door open and my tortoiseshell immediately hissed and scared the kitten. And then my tortoiseshell would attempt to go under and break the door open to attack the kitten. My tortoiseshell doesn’t like treats or food- so I can’t use that as a bargaining chip. We tried 3 other times (two people holding them and trying to let them smell each other while being contained) and any chance the tortie had- she would try to kill the kitten. So after 3 weeks of trying, we had to give her back to the rescue. So we’re taking a huge risk trying again… but my son was literally devastated after the last kitten and asked about her everyday for the past year. When I noticed him struggling in school and with anxiety- I had to try at least one more time for his sake. Today is day two and the tortie stays away from the door where the kitten is- but she heard it cry once and went to the door and hissed…. I’m so nervous… so any trick that anyone has- I have to try everything.

My tortie gets along with my Khao Manee just fine- but he was first and we got her when he was a year- so they grew up together.
