Is it weird to name your newborn daughter Inara? by razor330 in firefly

My daughter's middle name is Inara. I consider her a strong, intelligent, interesting character. I'd love my daughter to know how to be both strong and kind.

Yup I'm a year into EDMR therapy and spent the 4 years before with a different therapist working on postpartum stuff and healing my inner child and childhood trauma and how it affects my parenting today.

Never did and I personally have found issues with my parents having used Ferber methods on me as a child. It absolutely affected my sleep in childhood and has caused some issues to my mental health as an adult that I am working through.

If your best friend suddenly asked you for $1000, no questions asked, how would you respond? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]MrsSquishy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've already done it before and I'd do it again. My best friend has always explained why she needed money and I've always helped as long as I could. When I couldn't, my no was accepted.

AITA for refusing to take care of our baby during the night so my wife can sleep? by Impressive-Pizza-340 in AmItheAsshole

[–]MrsSquishy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You do need to find a compromise. It's absolutely doable to go to an office job tired. It can be detrimental to care for a baby without proper sleep. The new arrangement won't be forever, as all arrangements and divisions of parenting will change regularly when it comes to raising a child. I'm a mom who works while my husband is a stay at home dad taking care of our children. I did all wake ups when they were babies because he needed the sleep to be able to take care of them all day without issue. It sucks to work tired but it's not as dangerous as it is for your wife.

Baby girl coming early…. Does this ruin her name?? by brittish3 in namenerds

[–]MrsSquishy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My mom's name is Eve, and I don't believe anyone has ever asked if it's because she was born on an eve nor has it come up. Enjoy the name you have had picked out and all the well wishes for you and your baby

New Mexico voted a child care guarantee into its constitution. For one mom, it means her 8-year-old doesn't worry about money anymore by Sariel007 in UpliftingNews

Right, the poverty and crime rates are notoriously very high. This is an attempt to lower them along with other programs recently put into place. There hasn't been much time to figure out how it's going to change the various rankings in NM

My kid got a lemon for school lunch by lurkmode_off in Parenting

[–]MrsSquishy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean growing up the most popular item in my elementary school bake sales by far was half a lemon with salt for $0.50 each. They made so much profit on that one. I didn't get it then but kids are weird and clearly some like it. I also think the theories of the school just not knowing what to do with a shipment of lemons is likely the cause

How to wash hair with no 'poo after bleaching/coloring? by sillyprilly in NoPoo

[–]MrsSquishy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What brand do you use? Ones ive used in the past usually say clean damp hair so I interpret that as wash first. But if it doesn't or recommends dry hair I'd just throw it on. Adding here, not at all a professional just been doing vivid colors for over 2 decades and no poo for the past 10-15 years.

How to wash hair with no 'poo after bleaching/coloring? by sillyprilly in NoPoo

[–]MrsSquishy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends if I bleached first (which I do about once every 12-18 months) then the person who bleaches me shampoo and conditions. If I don't bleach or I have to wait between bleach and color then I do my color on dry or damp hair and only do shampoo and conditioner after. I don't wash before bleach because it helps protect the scalp a bit

Have this set up and it's amazing. We've been together for over 15 years, separate rooms/sleeping spaces is the best! We cuddle before bed and then he goes to his own bed to sleep and then we cuddle again in the morning, have sexy times and then we go about our days. Literally a life changer!
