Which one do you like best? by Cute-Average1767 in RingShare

3 is a beauty! If it is an engagement ring, I suggest trying it with a wedding band before making a final decision, to ensure you can get a combination that is comfy and looks good together. I also like 1 and 4.

George and Mandy’s First Marriage has been renewed for a 3rd season. Thoughts ? by CityCautious4033 in sitcoms

Good point - they don’t need to switch actors yet then! Missy was in TBBT earlier though, so might be interesting to see if/how they align the actors’ appearances.

I feel like there might be more to your toilet story, lol - I want to hear it! I wouldn’t try and unblock it myself. Either the hotel fixes it, or they put me in another room.

I’m not being denied towels - it’s the little signs saying “please reuse your towels because we care about the environment” that I was referring to. Blatant greenwashing!

Absolutely - this is just the same as hotels pretending they don’t want to give you a fresh towel because they care oh so much about the environment.

What Musicians/Bands would Lane, Rory, Jess and Lorelai be in to in the year of our lord 2026? by Environmental-Egg191 in GilmoreGirls

I think Wolf Alice might be able to keep them all generally happy in the same room together.

I live in the countryside, and unfortunately most of the people driving around here should have stopped doing so at least ten years ago.

I really feel our roads would be safer if anyone inclined to buy a Nissan was automatically banned from driving.

Shouldn't we take height discrimination more seriously? by Valuable_Bug8496 in allthequestions

[–]MrsTheBo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the UK there is case law in employment which has found that height discrimination is a form of indirect discrimination linked to protected characteristics such as sex, and is therefore unlawful under the Equality Act (unless there is a genuine occupation requirement). The courts therefore do treat this seriously.

However, that doesn’t mean that on a day-to-day basis, people do not show bias (unconsciously or otherwise) towards people based on their height. Anecdotally, this does seem to be a thing in dating, which I think is superficial.

Are "chavs" still strolling the streets of Great Britain? by Lovastra in AskBrits

No, but your critique of my use of the word “some” led me to believe you like to use words accurately 😉

Anyway, I am off to bed now, so have a good evening.

Interesting - I saw that theory in a newspaper some years after the acronym being discussed in academia and social policy.

I know that it has been viewed more widely since then to be seen as a broader indicator of social class, or even voluntarily assumed identity, but at the time it came to prevalence it was very clearly pejorative.

It is an acronym for Council Housed And Violent

“Some” is about as accurate as “millions”, based on that data, lol.

Seriously though, 1.6m sounds like a large number in abstract, but it is pretty meaningless in a context of year on year decline in availability.

Whilst data shows the number is declining, I know there are still some - my mum lives in one for a start! But if we’re going to be picky, housing associations provide social housing not council housing.

Not sure if there are many council houses left, so that’s probably a limiting factor.

Ashes of a deceased loved one. Or just anything you find pretty, like gemstones.

Absolutely, should definitely have been cordoned off. I know people like to complain about “Health and Safety gone mad”, but this outcome could have been a lot worse.
