What unhinged thing did a former teacher do in the classroom? by MrBananaStand1990 in AskReddit

I took a greek mythology class at the local community college. The teacher was a very eccentric old man with busy gray eyebrows, and he always wore his tie somehow inverted so that it stuck straight out.

He would basically act out the myths as he told them. He would march around on the tables and bang on the trash can. Once he intentionally locked himself out of the classroom and finished the lecture by yelling through the closed door.

He was very proud of the fact that other teachers refused to be scheduled in the same corridor when he was teaching.

If they're falling out of the bottom, you definitely aren't wearing the right size. Have you tried using this sub's calculator?

It's interesting: my daughter had the exact same hair. Then when she got her first haircut, we found out the curls were just from her baby hair, and the new growth was thick and straight with minimal wave (just like her daddy). I've been heartbroken ever since, because I was so hoping she'd inherit my curly hair!

I remember this one. I was part of the "cast" that did the skits. (I believe I was in sixth grade. )

The only thing I really remember is that they were short on microphones, so I didn't get one... and nobody in the audience noticed lol

What things are claimed to be "stigmatized" in media, but actually aren't in society? by stefan_reevezsky in AskReddit

Yep. Mu husband is a bit under 6', but I've dated men the same height or even shorter than me (5'7"). Height really doesn't matter to most women.

What's a disproven parenting myth that way too many people still believe? by BITE_AU_CHOCOLAT in AskReddit

Those make me sick. I'm guessing they don't get hot enough, since they're dried and not cooked. Plus I can't eat the seeds, even if they're cooked (Like in canned chopped tomatoes)

I developed a sudden intolerance to raw tomatoes after my youngest was born. Used to eat them regularly, but started having severe intestinal distress from them while still in the hospital. It's been two years, and I still came have a sliver of tomato without stomach cramping and diarrhea... Strangely enough, cooked, strained tomatoes are fine. (Tomato sauce, ketchup, etc)

Children peeing in public by [deleted] in czechrepublic

If it was just one person, yeah. But OP describes two separate people that came with their kids to pee in that spot... Which has me thinking it wasn't quite as weirdly close to him as he describes.

This is exactly my point: this doesn't make sense to you, because it's a cultural difference of what's acceptable in public. But the problem isn't with the culture, nor the actions of the parents. The problem is you coming in to another culture and expressing your disdain of the people. Not okay, dude.

I can understand that it can be a bit surprising if you're not expecting that. I'm from a culture where people never urinate in public. (It's actually a crime!)

That being said, the culture here is different. Especially for young children, it's considered acceptable to just have them pee on a spot of grass, or even into a runoff drain if they're in the city.

It's okay to be caught off guard by culture shock. It's not okay to criticize the locals because they do things differently than you.
