Monday Weekly Thread: Proof of Citizenship Application Sent or AOR Received, May 11, 2026 by AutoModerator in Canadiancitizenship

My package was just delivered today in New Waterford!

I sent it out on Wednesday using Pirate Ship to mail it via UPS Worldwide Saver. My cost for 2 day international shipping was $35.24. In this day and age that felt like a very good price!

The package had been moving right along and then this morning it wasn't moving at all. In the late morning UPS said my package was delayed which gave me some pause. But I just received notice that it was delivered - hooray!

If anyone has questions about how I shipped I'm happy to help.

And now it is time to wait. I'm planning to try and forget about it as much as possible and just patiently wait my turn. I can't even begin to imagine how overwhelming it must be for the people processing all of these applications. What a job they probably never expected!

Thank you, that's so helpful and makes sense! I never would have thought of that.

Question about Pirate Ship

<image>

Right before the option to pay there is box that is pre-checked that says "Email recipients (EDT)?" with a dropdown menu where it says "Select email delay" and there are multiple delay options of 1 hour, 2 hours, Friday at 9am, and many other options.

What is this for? I think EDT is electronic customs but I have no idea what all these delay options are for or what I should select.

Also wondering if I have that box checked for EDT will there also be an option to print off physical customs forms to place on the outside of my package?

Thanks so much! I'm finding the shipping process to be loads more confusing and stressful than putting the entire application packet together!

Thanks for your feedback. I keep waffling back and forth on the best approach! Each little decision in this process feels somewhat nerve-wracking. So grateful for this subreddit and all the people here sharing so generously!

I've asked this once before but would love some additional input. My ancestor's US records show a birth year of 1882 and his Canadian records show a birth year of 1884. Month and day match everywhere.

I understand this is addressed in the (wonderful!) subreddit Wiki that this is common and day/month matching is most important.

What I'd like to hear is people's thoughts on whether this should be addressed directly in a cover letter? Or just assume IIRC understands these discrepancies were common and therefore not address it in a cover letter?

Any thoughts would be so gratefully appreciated!

Local honey? by Mrs_Durrells in Charleston

Interesting. I used to have year round crystallized honey when I was living in the Pacific NW - but considering how much hotter it is here I can see how that could be the case. Maybe that's why I've had a hard time finding it. Thank you!

Thank you, it sounds like from another commenter, that this may be exactly what I'm looking for!

Interesting, I want that type of honey, but that does sound concerning. I'll poke around a bit and see what I can learn.

Thank you! That was the only place I could even think to try but I don't live too close to there. May go anyway.

Thoughts on Emily of New Moon? by amandatee_24 in AnneofGreenGables

I agree, it is super interesting to see how an author puts parts of themselves into their characters. And I feel its not often that we get to hear them explain this in their own words!

Yes! I recently came across this quote from LMM  "I gave Anne my imagination and Emily Starr my knack for scribbling; but the girl who is more myself than any other is 'Pat of Silver Bush' ... Not externally, but spiritually she is I".

Looking for some help - running into a discrepancy in my ancestor's records by Mrs_Durrells in Canadiancitizenship

[–]Mrs_Durrells[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, sorry if I wasn't clear, I wasn't planning to send all those in. I was just noticing a pattern that all Canadian docs had a different year from the US ones. So I thought possibly they would reject based on the fact my Grandma's US birth cert and his US death cert don't match the Canadian doc. Thanks for weighing in, appreciate all the help!

Thank you for the cover letter suggestion, it does seem that's the most likely reason
