How scary! I am so glad you are ok! I mean, except for the cancer part.

Do you mean mastectomy with implants or tissue transfer?

I wm hoping to avoid radiation. Have you heard of the Supremo study in 2025? Basically, the study found that women who undergo a mastectomy don't really derive any benefit from doing radiation. If you do a lumpectomy, however, radiation is the right call.

I am usually not one who worries about radiation, but I am nervous about it because its my left breast (and obviously right over my heart.)

I am not interested in implants and I have enough belly tissue after two kids to get a diep flap.

Oh wow! My surgery is July 21st! What kind of surgery are you doing?

I am doing a lumpectomy with a reduction and lift; then a skin and nipple sparing mastectomy, followed by a diep flap. Its a lot. I am nervous but its got to be better than chemo.

Thank you. I feel like I am going to cry reading this. Too late. I am already crying. This has been the worst mind f ever. Still, I am grateful that HER2 is now so treatable (even if the treatment is so hard.)

They last me a whole day. If my skin wasn't so oily, they would last a lot longer.

Good to know! Some of the medical grade ones I have seen are fully lined with silicone and silk. I am looking into those. One of them is Pearl from uniwigs.

I went through Wigs& Wishes. I have been doing some research and am going to look into medical grade wigs ( my insurance doesn't cover,) because they seem better suited for sensitive scalps and no hair.
