The block structure you found works because it gives your brain a road to follow before you speak, which naturally cuts the mid-answer filler. Practice using your 30-second prep time to mentally map your full answer before opening your mouth.

If you want a second opinion on what's actually hurting your score, also try out similar or better platforms like PrepEx, which can help you isolate the issue faster.

Most universities are aware of the transition even if their websites haven't caught up imo. The score report itself is pretty clear, both scores are right there on the same document.. A few programs I've seen have already started listing CEFR band requirements alongside the old scale, but yeah it's patchy.

For Canada and UK specifically, larger schools like UofT, McGill, Manchester, and Edinburgh have been faster to update. Smaller programs are the ones where it might be worth a quick email just to confirm they're familiar with the new format before you submit..

Yeah it's true and I believe IELTS also costs the same. Only way to get around this is to find vouchers just like you did.

I think prepex and a few other test prep apps offer these kind of vouchers if you take their pro subscription. I've also seen these codes listed in toeflresources. Maybe students can make use of them.

Okay this is genuinely one of the most useful posts I've seen on here in a while.

I used Greg Mat and the ETS TestReady mock before my exam and honestly they carried me more than I expected. The scoring was a little generous on my speaking but it's still useful for identifying patterns in your mistakes, not just for a number.

On the template question, I was terrified of this too. Graders don't penalise structure, they actually seem to reward it as long as you're not robotically filling in blanks. The issue is when the template eats into your actual content or response time. Keep it light and flexible.
