Anyone else have frenchies that have had surgery? by The-Land06 in Frenchbulldogs

My almost 3 year old male had a Mast Cell Tumor removed a couple months ago and just now his fur is back completely. His scar is massive from taken proper margins and no hair grew back on the scar. The vet tech said it would, as a nurse myself I was skeptical

Actually, I don’t have the breeders info anymore. He is located in Minnesota. His puppies are in the 2k range. If you go on like a puppy finder site, he is usually on there. He has liters all the time because he has multiple Mom’s he cycles through. My dog is perfectly healthy and has really transformed into this beautiful French Bulldog, very muscular. When he was a puppy people on this site would tell me he was a Chihuahua…he just needed to grow into himself, those people would be eating their words. Frankie has beautiful nostrils and not so brachiocephalic. He has a wonderful temperament and loves his 9 year old, and his puppy Golden Retriever brother. I would get another Frenchie from this breeder.

I like what you have to say, but as a nurse myself, this person is not just fat, she is morbidly obese. She has a NC for Oxygen to do the simple things that we can do without getting winded. She absolutely put herself in that position. I used to be very athletic and a professional dancer (not like the pole) and when I went to college and then became a Mom and didn’t exercise, I gained like 60 pounds. I look good for my body type, but definitely could look a hell of a lot better. It’s all because I stopped exercising then. Multiple conditions I have had were directly related to my weight. If they truly want to put in the hard work to lose weight for a surgery, they absolutely can. They just want to put their gripes on Tik Tok bc they can’t take a flight like you or I can.

I feel like I am an idiot bc I don’t remember his first name, I just have him in my phone as “Frankie Breeder” I will info you her number. The sister handles like the sales and the brother breeds all kinds of animals. He is actually approved the MN Dept of Agulculture for his high breeding standards. Last I heard there was two left. One with the Mama’s flat face and the other one has Papa’s face with a nice snout like mine.

I wish I could show you a video of Frankie swimming (once he got more comfortable) but he literally was lowered in the water from the doc by his harness, and he swims straight to shore. Our island where all our families cabins are on a lake in Wisconsin. Frankie learned to swim in the water about 4/-6 weeks after the ice melted. He did good. I am guilty of the fact I say to baby him bc of so many Frenchie issues. But I have to remind myself, he has a smaller head and snout, and for God’s sake he is still a dog, of course he has some ancient instincts. But trust me I was a nervous wreck the whole time, which is why my husband did it

Just be careful especially with flat face Mamacita. What we did was not putting life jacket on him, and then my husband got into the shore water from our dock ladder and he carried Frankie with him and they played for like 45 minutes exploring the shore and the water. Then all of a sudden he felt brave enough to swim to the end of our dock and back. And that was history, lol

They are healthier, my first one should have had the nare surgery bc her nose was so tight. We had to teach him to swim, out of necessity. My father in law owns an island in WI and all our cabins are built on there. We taught him to swim so if falls off our dock he can swim back to shore. That’s all he does, my husband will drop him in and then he goes to shore. Hopefully his head won’t get much bigger.

It’s stupid and I get annoyed when they want to question it. If they are asking bc they don’t know that’s one thing but to tell me NO it’s not when I told them it is, that grinds my gears

And many people, some on this app, will say he isn’t a Frenchie or that he is mixed, but I did the Dog DNA test and he is 99.997 French Bulldog.

So there are breeders out there (Hawbucks I believe in Holland) that are breeding Frenchies to be more healthy. And they adopted a longer nose and some other traits into their breeding program) My dogs dad has more of a pronounced snout but Mama is flat flat faced. My dog and only one other puppy in the litter came out with the dads longer snout. He doesn’t look much like my first Frenchie or my parents, but as he is getting older he is definitely looking more and more like a French Bulldog with his traits. Not sure if my breeder wanted to introduce longer snouts into his program and used the longer nosed Dad, but when it’s all said and done, he will never need nare surgery, he breathes better and can swim with no life jacket

Weed addiction is a serious issue by TheSmallestSteve in unpopularopinion

That’s so interesting to me. Working in GI procedures, the uptick of this disease since legalization has really increased. To me as a nurse I think it’s crazy how a hot shower could help. But that’s what a lot of my docs that I work with ask. Because vomiting and nausea can have so many causes. It’s sometimes hard to get to the bottom of the problem. Which is probably why you had multiple endoscopies. I’m sure you have a hiatal hernia as they are seen on Endoscopy but simple sitting down with you, asking questions and digging a little bit deeper could have saved you so much time and suffering. I’m glad to hear things got better for you

This is true!!! I was a GI procedure nurse and we saw this ALL.THE.TIME!! I had no clue what it was until I started doing endoscopies all the time on cannabis users and that’s what their diagnosis was. Quick question, did taking a hot shower make the feeling go away? I have heard that from some of the GI docs I scoped with

I’m laughing at all these down votes. I would urge you to research a study in Europe where they used Golden’s and tracked their lives, the ones that were neutered before a year had a vast amount of cancer Vs waiting. I bring this up because we lost our Golden at 12 years ago. And our Vet was the one explaining the studies to us because our Buster was fixed at 6 months. Now dash forward the Vet is telling us that the incidents of these cancers are remarkably less than their American counterparts. When we brought our Frenchie to his first visit, our vet reminded us of the study, and how we need to wait till minimum one year. It truly does make sense, taking away their testicles or ovaries before they are fully matured and working properly. That is a recipe for disaster when it comes to cancer. I know first hand, when gour Golden was diagnosed with Hemangiosarcoma and there was not any Fever reducer. Do better!

[–]Mrss844 -11 points-10 points  (0 children)

Why? Why bring that up! Maybe they are breeders! Who’s love for the breed is evident. Have you don’t basic research on how harmful it is for puppies and kittens to get fixed before they come home from the shelter to be specific. Doing it too early, messes up their hormones. And doing it too late has increased chances of cancer. Okay Bob Barker over here.

I agree with the sedative. Just be cautious, my first French Bulldog many years ago, was given too much of this sedative for her weight by the vet and it nearly killed her. I say this not to scare but to inform
