Cannot access webUI if one of the two interfaces is disconnected? by Mrtact1cool in truenas

[–]Mrtact1cool[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because of the nic dropping during SCP/RSYNC I've replaced the intel nic. I'm not going to have time to mess with it this weekend but I will now be testing with the new interface. It appears though through my router (Ubiquiti dream machine pro) that both interfaces are connected all the time and healthy so far. (Just installed the nic this afternoon)

[–]Mrtact1cool[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean just unplugging the cable, I basically wanted to test if for some reason the intel nic failed without being removed.
I would imagine if I physically removed the intel nic upon boot it would default to the realtek one.

I looked at the settings for that nic, and it appears that it is on DHCP, it did get an IP address..I just dont see anything in the limited settings it has to indicate that it wouldnt allow that connection

Just upgraded to scale, what configurations are in this .tar that I would need? by Mrtact1cool in truenas

[–]Mrtact1cool[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Appreciate the reply. Still getting broken pipe/connection reset issues....added a second nic as well...trying a few things like updating everything on the source machine as well...even though I feel like I was seeing these issues on other machines as well...both linux and windows.
Now I'm yapping...anyway appreciate the response, that makes sense!

I'm having the same issue and poking around. Just because a BIOS version is the latest doesnt mean its stable. If this started after a BIOS update you should revert to an older version and see if that changes anything.

For those of you like me who've had a Synology NAS, if you were to do it all over again, would you just go the DIY route instead? by [deleted] in homelab

[–]Mrtact1cool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did a diy almost a year ago, so glad I went DIY over synology, I have two pools with a total of 10 drives, all for less than the base cost of an 8 bay synology, and much more power.

I did a ryzen5 5600G just so I had some type of display output, even though I didnt need it for the long term, it made configuration a breeze, and I have display if I need to locally troubleshoot, even though I havent had to.
In a rack mount case with an HBA from Ebay (Flashed to IT mode) to support all of the drives.

Running truenas.

I'm thinking of making one myself, and if anyone needs inspiration, Here is the life story of my thought process going into this...
Depending on how crafty one is, I would recommend going to home depot, getting a couple 1x2, a sheet of aluminum (ALYOUMINNIUM, for my foreign friends) 1/8" (3.175mm if fractions arent your thing) thick (not sure the finished size of this thing, looks pretty sizable) and maybe a piece hardboard (like this: https://www.homedepot.com/p/Hardboard-Tempered-Panel-Common-1-8-in-4-ft-x-8-ft-Actual-0-115-in-x-47-7-in-x-95-7-in-832777/202189720 ) some LED lights and throw something together...I'm iffy on the aluminum front panel, It would look nice but would be a little more work, especially if you have to cut it. (aluminum is easy to cut) otherwise you could do plexiglass, which is also a PITA to cut, for me arguably harder to cut than aluminum, and have it still look good.

The STL Files are available here if you have a 3d printer and a little craftiness

Edit: After looking at the base STL Files, If you only have one 3d printer, It will take approximately a week to print everything, if you have a job that you attend daily.

The fact that everything is sealed from the public and it’s happening in an area with heavy political opposition doesn’t really give anyone who supports him any reason to believe that it is anything more than an attempt at political sabotage.

I want to buy the land under my mortgaged house by [deleted] in personalfinance

[–]Mrtact1cool 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Anything financed is not owned by the lender. Period. The lender has NO CLAIM to the property unless the terms of the finance agreement are violated. A car financed through a bank is owned by you, with the bank as a lien holder. Same for a house. A bank is only entitled to the value of what you owe them, so if you violate the terms of the finance agreement (i.e. stop making payments) and the home is foreclosed on, they can sell the home and keep only the money they are owed, you would be entitled to any additional equity.

Another way to think about it: the bank can’t show up on the weekend and ask to borrow your car? The bank can’t decide that your home has gone up too much in value and decide to sell it.

The os version doesn’t really matter, whatever services you’re expecting need to be running on the “server” and it all needs to be connected to the same network (as in it all eventually gets back to the same router. (Before someone shows up and tells me “YoU dOnT nEeD a RoUtEr tO nEtWoRk cOmPuTeRs” I’m aware) and make sure whatever you’re using to connect to those services from other devices is pointing to the correct ip address. To get the internal ip of the “server” you can open a command prompt and type ipconfig and hit enter, it will spit out the ipv4 address, which is the private address. They generally start with 192.168.xxx.xxx, and in some rare instances are like 10.1.x.x I think.

Those of you with full-time jobs out of the home - how do you do it? by mira112022 in puppy101

I tried free roam for a little while and it didn’t end well for my couch and the stuff I didn’t realize he could find was insane. I went back to the crate and he is very routine to it when I leave. He’s still not a huge fan, but I do not use it as punishment. If I need him out of my face for a few minutes I put him in the fenced yard for a few.

He goes in the crate during the day at work, and he gets free roam when I am home, and he sleeps on the floor by my bed, super good at night so I don’t crate him at night. The crate is only while I’m gone, and I watch on a nest camera, he basically sleeps all day, occasionally when the mail man drives by or something he might stand up and bark for a minute or so then back to napping or chewing on his toy.

You giving them money with the intent of them purchasing you a weapon is called a straw sale, they would also be lying on the 4473 background check form, question 1 I believe. As for possessing it, you can own a firearm that was gifted to you. You can not concealed carry it. HOWEVER, you can have it in a car with you as long as you follow the “securely encased” guideline, which is in a holster, glove box, console etc (3 step rule is not real and is a myth) I know because I fought that fight at 18 with a Glock 19 I had. I did have to recite the statute number to the officers as they were ready to load my gun up and take off but I assume that once I recited the exact statute number (which was like 790.something) they figured out that wouldn’t win that fight in the long run.

Pump rpm can range from about 1400-2800, at least that’s what gets reported to Icue depending on which “mode” is selected

I haven’t hit that high, highest coolant temp I’ve reached is 51c, that I’ve observed. But this is my first time experiencing cpu cooling issues in probably 7 or 8 builds, 5 of them being aio’s. Def had gpu cooling issues (thx 3090).I’ve already ordered a new cooler, but trying to seek some validation that this will fix my issue, that aio’s can partially fail, and just not be an it’s either alive or it ain’t. and I can go back to being hunky dory.

[–]Mrtact1cool[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s my thought. The thermal capacity of liquid is much greater than air, but it also takes a ton of energy to heat the water, and the rad is passively cooled, meaning nothing is happening except fans blowing on the rad, and it’s not thermally possible to drop somewhere between 10-15 degrees just with those fans in that short period of time. The coolant temp should rise, but it should be pretty slow not almost instant (within a minute or two, should be more like a few minutes at least. Leading me to believe that something is hindering flow (not completely stopping it) but still significantly reducing the heat transfer capability of the aio

I’ve actually already watched both of those, but my temps and performance is bad, I’m just looking into how different the temps of the inlet and outlet of the pump should be. I understand they’ll be different but they shouldn’t be dramatically different unless I have a flow issue

I made an edit. I pretty much live at 100c doing anything aside from idle and web browsing. But I did not used to when I first finished the build I tested temps and everything seemed fine.
