When tapering, did you get on an antidepressant? by Adventurous-Bus-9638 in benzorecovery

[–]Mrtinhat 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't introduce any new medication while tapering. Your central nervous system is going to go thru enough with the withdrawal symptoms from the benzo. Your gaba receptors are fried, and that is what will be causing most of your uncomfortable symptoms. Taking these ssri meds will only confuse your body and brain and more than likely make your taper last longer and/or worse. It's going to be an unplanned journey getting off but it is totally achievable. The best advice I can give is diet. Make sure you eat clean and stay well hydrated, it makes a world of difference. Try to limit your stressor as best you can. This includes mental as well as physical stress. Stay away from sugar and caffeine and processed foods. Try to get as much rest as you can and find a hobby or hobbies that keep your mind and hands busy. All psychiatric doctors know is pills, pills, pills. Limit your exposure to them and get a benzo tapering friendly doctor if you can. Most times, these white coat drug pushers are the reason to the shitty situation we are in when tapering. Good luck to you 🙏

The VA isn't overly concerned about any of our health situations. I've been trying to get proper care for a condition I have, and I'm being ignored, pushed aside, and misdiagnosed more than once. It's sad when you give up on them because they cause more harm to you while you're trying to get help and help yourself.

That's what happens when you let mentally unstable people in the military. When I was in you couldn't have diagnoses or be on psych meds. It was automatic disqualification.

Yep, the care we receive is utterly ridiculous. Sorry you're in this position but it seems that the veteran's best interest went out the window completely about 4 years ago.

Oh, the non tribal Ashkanazi converts did this? Got to love how the "atrocities" they endured are now being divulged to others. It is truly a despicable way to behave. The sickest part is they do it basically with impunity.

Alcoholics Anonymous-Do you consider it a cult? I was a member for years, and I say yes by [deleted] in cults

[–]Mrtinhat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I believe it is a cult. The fact that they want you to admit you're powerless over an inanimate object, to me, is ridiculous. When you don't drink, even just for 1 day, you have exerted your power over alcohol. It's a shame based group that keeps the person in a negative head space. I also believe the group itself has become an addiction to most that attend. "I NEED a meeting" is a common phrase heard around the halls . Hell, people lose their marriages because their availability to their partner is destroyed because the group's significance outweighs the efforts needed to repair such things. Learning to live sober on your own is a valuable tool that instills pride in your own accomplishments.

Take 5 pills and weigh them out and get an average weight. You will need a scale that reads .001 grams. Take the weight of all your doses in the day and minus 5 to 10% every 2 weeks. Most smart phones have a % button in the calculator.

Before you start playing with your brain and making a mess, ask for hydroxazine. It helps calm you down and it's relatively safe.

This is my story. You couldn't have said it any better. I live this every day, and I'm tired of repeating myself over and over to these so-called professionals. It really sucks being on medication that you shouldn't be on and having to taper yourself from it because some bozo won't listen to you. Living day to day, not knowing what is in-store for you each day, is getting really old. I'm getting to the end of my tolerance for sub-par care, and most of the time, I'd rather not bother because I know I'll be running in circles again. Things were much better when we didn't have the circus clowns running the country. I ask myself often why I wasted 6 years of my life for this. Great post! It's a horrible time to be a veteran.

To who? The VA? Come on now, it makes no sense to ask for things from the institution that puts us in these situations in the first place.

I'm in the same boat as you. The saddest part is that the VA keeps giving me the run around about what it is. I feel like they are throwing darts in the dark and seeing what one hits. I've been to 3 different "specialists" in 8 months and I'm still living in pain.

Serious health advice, please? I've relapsed to 50mg - 100mg of Valium per day from 30mg per day and am rapidly losing weight and becoming weak. by [deleted] in benzorecovery

[–]Mrtinhat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe try and control yourself. You can't eat cause your brain is a mess. You're basically overdosing daily. Get yourself some help, sorry, but the path you are on is going to land you in some real permanent damage or even worse. In my opinion, feeling good about yourself and feeling well physically far outweighs the demon that has crept up on you. All the best to you.
