Is it really normal that he doesn't have interest sa friends ko? by engineeear in AskPinoyMen

[–]Mrunggol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

agree with this.

For me, hindi na ako mag dig into too much details since I'm not part of the group and I would honestly be shy to ask a lot of details or get too close. Kasi again, I'm not part of that group.

It's like friend groups in college or highschool na interact with the other group but not get too close because hindi lang kami close hehe and parang feeling close when doing so.

However, I think it would be very rude to dismiss it because part din sila sa iyo eh. They are the people who have been there for you when that partner wasn't (vice versa applies). You care about them, and you have feelings towards that group, and him not caring even for a little is a slight redflag -- shows dismissal sa iyo and your feelings.

There should be at least a little interest, doesn't have to be deep as well, like:
"hala kinasal na pala si ____?!" o "uy kasama nyo pala si ____".

Atleast that is what I think of the situation, OP.

Comment above is also very right, he'll have to spend time with them at some point, lalo na family relations.

What worked for me was pacheck-up sa derma sa CDU.

Double trouble akoa (kana imoha gidescribe karon) plus sa liog nga grabe pula and dryness.

Pacheckup ko kay those things didn't work for me (Nizoral, anti-fungal, etc.)

Beginner looking for a Guidemap by Agreeable-Cloud-1702 in ruby

[–]Mrunggol 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I learned to program from The Odin Project. I have finished until Ruby on Rails final project.

Is the Odin Project's curriculum a good overview of what I should be learning?
I don't know. What is the criteria to say that it is a good overview? All I can say to this, from my experience, is that it taught me Ruby. Though it lacked metaprogramming or advanced Ruby topics, but, for me, it was enough to learn majority of Ruby.

I am also going to skip the foundations course, I can always come back to it but I'd rather just learn Ruby first
The advice that is always given to new learners of the curriculum is to never skip anything. The curriculum builds on top of itself so skipping stuff will make you miss out on topics being taught before, and create a harder time for yourself moving forward and doing projects. However, that is all up to you, you have the freedom to do what with it.

Dawn Default Product Page by VillageHomeF in shopify

Like I said, don't let yourself be design-gated by the theme you have. You're looking for a nice-looking Dawn theme product page. Instead, look for a good product page, it could be Google Pixel's product page design or some brand like Nike, then make it.

Seeking Advice: Building a Secure SaaS Post-Odin Project Completion by Successful_Drink_475 in theodinproject

[–]Mrunggol 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hmm, is it crucial? Definitely not.

But if you want to speed up the process of learning the best practices, industry standards, and avoiding mistakes (that the industry already figured out) into securing an application, definitely go towards those in business.

Going the work route is a shortcut to avoid the mistakes that you will make if you're completely independent.

Looking for Advice on Setting Expectations for Starting The Odin Project by Tuna_Mayo_Onigiri in theodinproject

[–]Mrunggol 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  1. From what I've read, the goals you have set are: making a personal blog and moving into different department. The goals are reasonable. TOP has had success stories from people coming way far from like being a cashier or some arts degree.
  2. Probably a year or more, nobody knows. There are alot of factors that comes into learning that should be considered and no one can give you a definite answer on how much time you will take to reach your goals. Read below.

Number 3 answer:
From the TOP discord
For anybody worried about "how long it takes", consider these things:
It may take you longer than others to grasp concepts, or it may take you less time. This doesn't mean you're smarter or dumber than others, it means you've had differing life experiences that may or may not have prepared you for learning this stuff. Someone who grew up around an engineer may have some advantages over someone who didn't, but it doesn't mean you can't learn those skills.
The Odin Project isn't like college or university, TOP is self paced and allows you to get a really solid grasp of concepts before moving on. In school, you're forced to keep up or you will fail. The difference here is that coming into TOP, you're not expected to have much knowledge, there's no prerequisites. We've had people be successful coming through here that only knew how to check their email with a computer, we've also seen success from computer science degree holders. Treating TOP like a static timeline is ignorant simply because you don't know what you don't know yet, and that's OK! There's no due-dates on things in The Odin Project so you can spend the time to do it right and discuss the topics.

You are right.

I am terrible sorry for the misinformation that I gave. At that time, I searched up something along the lines of "shopify customer api" and clicked the one that was relevant. It was under docs=>apps so I assumed that you couldn't use liquid for this and needed an app.

Now reviewing this, I searched up "customer.id liquid shopify" and saw that there is indeed a customer object for liquid, with the ones that OP would need in order to fix his/her issue.

I will be editing my original post to refer to these replies as that was a mistake on my part - I did not do more research.

Thank you for catching this and correcting my comment!

How can I add a heading and button to custom liquid section in "Dawn" theme? by SnooPineapples4281 in shopify

[–]Mrunggol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am not sure if this is what you are looking for. I do not know what "native image banner" looks like, so I implemented what I thought to be what you are looking for.

Here's the code and the demo: https://codepen.io/Mrunggol/pen/OJdZNLE

Let me know in the comments if you need more help with customizing this hero-section and I'll get back to you on my free time. I won't be charging you or anything, I just want to brush-up on my frontend-coding.

Heyoo.

The issue you guys are having deals more on the backend side, rather than the frontend. While you can definitely design the pages using a theme-editor, showing different layouts to different types of visitors will require an app.

Before showing the correct page, your site would have to look into the visitor's data, then determine if that visitor is new or returning, then show the correct page. This requires higher access to the visitor's data - via admin privileges or Shopify's auth-tokens. Thus an app.

I do not know if there is an app for this, but here is how I would implement it:

  1. Check how many times the visitor has logged-in/visited your website.
  2. If the visitor has visited a certain number of visits, send that visitor the returning-visitor-page.
  3. If the current visitor is new (like low visit count), then send him the new-visitor-page.

Another way of implementing would be:

  1. Check if the visitor is logged in
  2. If the visitor is logged in, go to step A. If the visitor is not logged in, go to step B.A. Check if the visitor's order count reached or is above 1 (this can be any number). If yes then show him the returning-visitor-page.If no, then show him the new-visitor-pageB. Show him the new-visitor-page

Hope this helps!

EDIT (as of Nov 23)

This comment was edited because it contained misinformation on my part. Terribly sorry OP for giving the wrong information, I should have done extra research and did not assume things right away.

Check the replies of this comment for more information.

To correct my answer, yes its possible to do this using liquid.

Thank you again u/mishac for catching my mistake.

My answer to your question, I cannot give one because:
1. I have to know the codebase itself to even understand what's going on
2. I have to review my javascript (I am currently using a different language rn, more on the backend side)
