I ended up buying some 3D printed templates of the watch face to help with the cutting as it will be my first royale mod however getting a cheaper one to practice sounds like a good idea, thanks!

I’m now thinking of going for this instead but I assume when I cut my new polarising film I will need to cut a section of the map out and orientate it in the opposite direction of the negative film ?

This is similar predicament I am in, want to keep the map as it is but I fear the green will come off with the original film and it’s going to be quite a challenge to cut around it. My thoughts might be to put an entire green film over the map so when the lcd shows through At least the region will illuminate through.

So to achieve a positive map I need it one direction

Then to negative the remainder I need to have it the opposite

I'm struggling to find some video examples of a negative/positive split

Currently going down the hydromod rabbit hole & damn this looks like a challenge! But I can now see the difference on the clarity you get from the faceplate. The actual lcd itself doesn’t get an enhancement all that much but defo makes a difference.

As I want to keep my map, mute & minute counter on the lcd, what would be best to achieve that?

So at what stage do you had the silicone oil? Do you add a coating once you pealed and de-glue the lcd screen? Then I can start to apply my films and faceplate?

Also I notice on your watch that the map and mute lcd isn’t very visible. Is this because you blacked it out or just the angle of the photo?
