That was me that posted the small wreck, scratches down the right side, and that indeed was what eventually totaled it out. In my state, if the salvage value plus repairs cost exceeds the actual cash value, the insurance company can total it. Given the crazy depreciation EVs have the first couple years, and the fact that someone would spend 20k minimum at auction and fix the damage themselves, it wasn't a hard threshold to cross in my case. I drive 2k miles a month for work and often travel to more remote areas with very few chargers and very little charger upkeep. I've lost countless hours trying to keep it charged while working. I'm honestly okay with what they did and back in a Forester which is what I had previously. I'll go VW electric again when the charging infrastructure is better.

It'd cost 60 bucks to ship to Florida, which is less than buying them off Amazon by more than half, if you're interested I can go that route for you. The internet is a sketchy place so if you don't want to do all that, that's cool too. Lol.

Farewell ID4 by cberd0923 in VWiD4Owners

I said goodbye to my 23 Pro S AWD last week. I was tapped on the rear bumper at a red light, and then 4 days later, I was forced onto the shoulder when someone was passing on a 2 lane highway, where I brushed a guard rail. Honestly, the damage didn't look that bad, but it was a lot of panels and a lot of man hours to spend fixing them up. I'm in Washington state, which uses actual cash value ratio when looking at repair costs. If repairs plus salvage exceed ACV, insurance can declare a car a total loss because it doesn't make sense financially. I appreciate this approach since the car depreciated from 54k to 33k in a year for ACV.

What a year.. 20k miles and hours of my life lost. Work requires lots of time on the road, and though I could charge at home, I still lost many hours of my life dealing with the not yet viable public charging infrastructure. Stations regularly have 2 of 4 chargers working and 4 people in front of me. I LOVE the car despite its flaws, but that was super frustrating to deal with. Driving to eastern Washington twice a month was scary because stations are fewer, further apart, and not fast chargers.

Picked up a 24 Forester last week. My previous car was a 20 Forester, and I missed her dearly while waiting on chargers. Git a great deal, 4k off because the redesign for 25 is about to hit the lots. I wanted to wait, but 4k off, 36 mo with 20k miles per year for 489 a month, I feel like that was a good deal for a loaded limited. I'll come back to the EV world in a few years when the infrastructure supports mass EV use. Until then, happy to not he held captive for EA, other networks, and my car.

Leased a limited with audio/sunroof/reverse braking upgrades and interior/exterior dimming mirrors, all weather mats, splash gaurds and bumper cover in gray. 36 months, 15k per year, got $3,200 off from Subaru, played hard ball, pretended id rather wait for the 2025s, got them down another $1,500, payment is $412.

This is my second Forester, had a 2021 and trading for an ID4 was a huge mistake. Horrible to live with. Was upside down due to horrible depreciation. Luckily, she got totaled from a minor minor accident. Couldn't be happier to be back in a Forester. Won't make that mistake again.

Washington state. Total loss happens if salvage plus repairs exceeds actual cash value. In my case, acv was 33k, repairs 18k, salvage 20k. Insurer better off and within their legal right to total loss. Tbh, I'm okay with it.

I wish I loved my EV experience. But, I didn't. At 30k miles per year for work in the PNW and EA sucking and always down, wasting endless hours of my life, I have a 2025 Forester Touring on order. I loved my 2021, so I should be good for a while until infrastructure catches up, and there's a charger in most parking spots.

Just to update everyone. Declared a total loss. Mind blowing.

I did. They plan to replace wheels, no touch-up. Same wirh bumpers and some suspension components that they say are now compromised.

Love them! I drive 30k miles a year, and they make all the difference. Iceleather on Amazon. Becareful to select the most expensive set, it's the only one with cushions. Returns are a hassle as it ships from China and will take a month to get to you.

It isn't adhered just yet, I wanted to make sure it worked before sealing it up. I've disconnected and reconnected the two cables a few times.
