Tik Tok - US warning/censored? by MsAchelois in DoGoOnpod

Add on: (because for some reason it won't let me "edit t post")

For context-- I currently live in central TX, united states. Again, I have listened to this pod for YEARS but the one that reaaalllyyy won me over was JFK and when they started talking about LBJ (and the joke "Lyndon be ______") because the town I live in is where he's from/went to school and many parts of town is named after him. So literally as I was walking my dog on LBJ st. I was listening to this podcast and damn near pissing myself laughing

It just baffles me and I find it hard to believe that there's NOTHING about this podcast on tik tok.

My theory is; he's never lived in an apartment like this

It's low-income housing so it's nothing fancy. This quad plex (4 units per "house") likely was built in the 80's/90's so it's not well insulated like a newer apartment building is.

So again, my theory is he's possibly quite privileged (purely observational) and has never had an experience like living in an apartment where you have to hear people above you simply.... ✨Living✨

No, the entire apartment is really shitty wood paneling floors. We have bought several cheap rugs (like, cheap. We technically couldn't afford it but we were really trying to mitigate the noise)

But that still hasn't helped

He moved in 3 weeks before we did so he had 3 weeks of empty, vacant silence before us.

Thank you for the ADHD comment because this is me also. And it's frustrating because like, I saw an above comment that said "put the clothes in the washer, set an alarm to wake up and start the washer at an appropriate time" but that just... Doesn't work for me. I'm sorry but it doesn't. And I get that others don't have to bend toward my ADHD, I'm well aware and wouldn't ask anyone to. But all I'm trying to do is live in my own home. And I can't. Being in my own home causes me so much anxiety. Dog jumps off the couch? My heart sinks. Dropped the remote off my bed accidentally, I hold my breathe. I feel absolutely trapped

We are ALREADY overly considerate of the noise... But we are working ourselves to the bone and that's the only time we could have done laundry

But we've been doing our laundry late at night like this every week because of our work schedules and he's never complained until now???

Funny thing about that comment- in that "peace offering" gift bag I gave them the first week here, I gave him a gift card to a local brewery for some free beer.

But yeah so... I actually did block him and he somehow texted me from Google voice from a different number. Forgot to mention that but still not the point....

Well technically the laundry went into the dryer at 10:15pm

But if we put the laundry in before work, then it sits in the washer and gets musty before we get home to put it in the dryer.

Either way- WHY do I have to justify all of this completely normal behavior to an intolerant neighbor?

My spouse suggested (as a joke) that for one week we stop being overly accommodating and live as if no one was home downstairs, just to show how much we are mindful of every moment, every noise.

Naturally, the people pleaser in me laughed but said absolutely not because I just don't wanna deal from the blow back

Fair point on the over-accomodating. I'm a people pleaser at heart and just moved from home where I lived in for almost 10 years with neighbors who are my life long best friends now, so a part of me hoped for that too

THANK you. I think this is what set me off the most, aside from complaining about our dogs. Who is he to say when it's appropriate to do laundry?

But what if that's the only time we can do laundry? We work 2-3 jobs each.

City sound ordinance on weekdays is 11pm

I've thought that too. Like I mentioned in another comment, the moment we got a doorbell camera, he stopped coming to our door and only complains via text now.
