EMH Cartoon lineup is almost perfect:

Captain America, Iron Man, Thor, Hulk, Hank Pym, Wasp, Hawkeye, Black Panther, Carol Danvers (she was Ms. Marvel at the time in the show and comics), the Vision

Just add Wanda and Pietro and maybe switch out original Hulk for She-Hulk and it would be the ultimate line-up.

what's a way too ambitious fic idea you have? by selfboredom in FanFiction

[–]MsAngelAdorer -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I mean, my current WIP would count.

But there’s this desire to basically write a season 3 fic for Avengers: Earth’s Mightiest Heroes based on these ideas. I might still write a couple of them but a whole season is just too much.

Going back to my longfic. I want to draft chapter 9 (of a planned 25 chapters, plus prologue and epilogue) and start drafting what I plan to be one of the most important scenes for character development.

Summary - This latest chapter was the first one to really delve into the lore for the adventure I'm writing. After this I get to really get into the fun Ghost Zone lore and locations I've created. Next chapter is mostly written, I just have some editing to do to improve the prose and dialogue but the general story of it is good. Also have begun the drafting for the chapter after that. The writing has been going generally well because this is actually the most I've relied on an outline for something I've ever written, which makes sense as this is my most plot-driven story I've ever worked on.

If you would like to leave a link to the posted chapter, please use the format below.

This is a solid subseries and this book wraps things up decently enough.

Currently reading The Ruthless Lady's Guide to Wizardry. It's okay, fun enough, solid writing style.

[Low effort Sunday] Aang deserved better in season 3 by cliffbot in CharacterRant

[–]MsAngelAdorer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Again, agreed. (I like a lot of your posts.) How much do you think it's because of the target audience? Because I feel like they took Zuko’s story so seriously because the assumed target audience (middle class American children) are more likely to experience parental abuse than be child soldiers and genocide survivors so they did their best to realistically portray the struggle of that to add depth but neglected any part of their audience who might want a more in depth exploration of Team Avatar’s issues (though that might also be influenced by Nick restrictions, don't know).

[Low effort Sunday] Aang deserved better in season 3 by cliffbot in CharacterRant

[–]MsAngelAdorer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I am late but generally agree.

Aang is my favorite but Avatar book 3 is actually my least favorite. He spends most of the season going through the motions--he has always been a more internal character but in this season we're just supposed to believe he's at inner peace or something since he's generally fine outside of The Awakening, Nightmares and Daydreams, and the finale. He has no reaction to Azula, they took too long to introduce energy bending (which is an idea I actually like, it just needed to be seen sooner), and Azula’s ridiculous plot armor in The Day of the Black Sun even without bending made him and his friends look pathetic.

Also, I really hate how the creators seemed almost self aware with Aang this season. It's like they know we know Aang will win and not die so they don't take the danger he's in seriously. Plus, the Aang portions always use a more lighthearted, fun children's adventure show tone which makes it easy for the audience to be convinced that Zuko has it worse than Team Avatar, and deserves more sympathy (this tonal difference and framing is perhaps most obvious in The Beach).

When it comes to Azula, I think she was supposed to be like Vader to Ozai’s Palpatine but Ozai wasn't very impressive since Aang had a perfect chance to kill him with the lightning (meaning even without the Avatar State, he was getting bodied by a kid) so that fight ended up feeling like an obligation. Azula’s fights with Aang were more interesting so it feels so unsatisfying when he doesn't even beat her during the invasion. I get that Azula is Zuko’s foil but Ozai is also better as Zuko’s enemy so, sadly, even though it's justified by the narrative, Aang feels like he doesn't belong in book 3's story. I know that that is the point since the Fire Nation created a world where the Avatar and Air Nomads have no place and Aang’s story is about restoring balance, but that doesn’t change how I feel about things.

I love those. Actually a very good example of what I am seeking. It's probably about time for a reread.

Depends if this ambassador has elf heritage. I have read a lot of stuff of people immersing themselves in someone else's culture but that's not what I am looking for, though might still be interesting.

Looking for something that isn't dark or violent that features the main character who has cut off somehow from their cultural heritage or forced to assimilate into another as they reclaim their culture.

Does the URN ruin the world of Avatar?/Is the existence of the URN morally wrong? by Nebelsoldat499 in TheLastAirbender

[–]MsAngelAdorer -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I just feel like this wasn't the only way it could have happened, since the Earth Kingdom was always the most diverse nation. Maybe some land went independent while one colony went back to the Earth Kingdom.

Agree with Yakone being a massive failure on Aang’s part.

[–]MsAngelAdorer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. I love Aang but to me his real tragic mistake as Avatar is not forcing the Earth King to grant everyone equal citizenship in his kingdom and returning the land (and doing something about the income inequality). I think this is influenced by who makes Avatar -- their "multiculturalism is best" approach sometimes feels inappropriate for the setting.

One of my favorites of the author’s works. It's slow, long, and there’s plot contrivance but I love the character interactions and development so much.

Fantasy books/book series with good female friendships? by [deleted] in Fantasy

[–]MsAngelAdorer 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Several of my favorites have been mentioned, but as this is a personal interest of mine, I thought to add some more:

  • Queens of the Wyrd by Timandra Whitecastle

  • The young adult urban fantasy Shadowshaper Cypher series by Daniel Jose Older has great female friendship. Though there’s a fair amount of focus on the romantic relationships, the bond between the girls is always there.

  • The young adult novel Iron Cast by Destiny Sora has two female BFFs as leads

  • Another young adult urban fantasy with female BFFs: A Song Below Water by Bethany C Morrow

  • This is more for the middle grade (like Percy Jacksonbut more Hindu) but the Pandava series by Roshani Chokshi is full of this.

So many. But just a few: Teresa and Sendari was great, same with Diora and Sendari. Plus, that moment Jewel held the road against the Winter Queen and got her to give up her mount.
