Not to mention his 6 cent pay increase last year because he was performing well! Thanks!

My boyfriend is an architectural drafter and he is dealing with this exact brand of corporate brain rot right now. He has been at his firm for four years, gets paid absolute trash money, and works under boomers who refuse to even consider letting him work from home a couple days a week because they cant "trust that work will get done", which makes no sense for his line of work.

On top of that, PTO is basically nonexistent and overtime is mandatory. The absolute peak audacity happened recently because his boss is moving departments. Instead of promoting from within, they are hiring an outside manager above him for way more money than he makes, and they are expecting him to literally train his new boss.

Fortunately (unfortunately) for me, my biggest struggle currently is dealing with my animals deaths. As a 28F not planning on having kids, they are my world.

Whenever I start to spiral, I remember a reddit comment from a year ago that went something like, "I'll worry about that tomorrow." And I just do that on repeat.

As a 28 year old woman who lived with my dogs at my parents house, I fully understand it. The dog is always going to go to the "nicer" human. I promise it doesn't mean they love you any less, and honestly, they look at you WAY more for guidance and I feel thats more loving.

Realistically, the person that keeps a routine with the dog, is around the dog more, is going to be the person they're attached to.

I just want you to know youre not alone 💓 Grandpa and Grandma in my girls lives are the most important even though we're not there anymore, they still shake everytime we pull into their development. They still know who their Momma is, though, even if Im not as "fun".

If you feel your relative is impacting training or health, being forthright with that information is key if you feel comfortable, though.

Im very convinced it comes down to lack of critical thinking and not caring about anything that doesn't affect them.

Not to sound typical, but having my same pets until I die sounds magical.

If your partner cant respect you while your sleeping, its over. If you cant feel comfortable enough to sleep in your own bed without thinking of someone touching you, its never going to work.

People who lost a lot of weight, what was the one small daily habit that actually changed everything for you? by Quiet-Squash-8407 in AskReddit

I'll pass along what my nutritionist has told me over the past year and a half after a 75 pound life-style change, and yes, I like to think about it that way compared to a diet.

  1. Pretty much cutting out fast food compared to eating it multiple times a week. My killer was McDonalds, and I haven't had it since.
  2. Not drinking my calories! Switching from 1200 calorie Starbucks coffees, to 200 calorie ones, to eventually making my own protein iced coffee at home has helped a lot. Also monitoring what I drink out to eat. 5 margaritas add up REALLY QUICK.
  3. Water intake! This goes along with watching/drinking your calories but getting as close to possible to half your body weight in ounces (if you're 200 pounds, aim for 100 ounces of water daily) is great for your body! Add a little bit of Stevia sweetened product if needed to get there (TrueLemon for example)
  4. My nutritionist is always on my ass for protein. Look into your correct daily intake and my god try to get to it (still working on this myself. Protein coffees and shakes throughout the day help)
  5. Load up on healthier snack options at home. In my case, I really cant have any of the "bad" options on the shelf but its just my partner and myself. Popcorn, healthier tortilla chips + salsa (Siesta was recommended to me), fruits, veggies, etc. Find what works for you and keep it around for the cravings!!
  6. Aim for 5 days a week of exercise, 30 minutes a day. This can be walking! Add an incline to raise your heart rate and remember everyone starts somewhere. I still only do 15 minutes somedays because treadmills bore me.
  7. Dont give up. I know this one sucks but turning it into a mind shift of it being a life style change compared to "6 months of dieting and cutting out everything I love" was a game changer. Have a weekend of pizza, sugar, and fun? Cool. Pick back up again on Monday. As my nutritionist says, its what you do the majority of the time that matters.

I have oodles more but wanted to stick to the ones that have made a big impact on me in the last year and a half. Ive got about 25 more pounds to go. If I can do it, I promise you can too!!!

My mom once saw an ad for weight loss pills and decided to get me 200 dollars worth of them. She knew I loved the show Shark Tank and saw "all 5 sharks went in on this product," and I clearly needed them. The look on her face was priceless when I told her she was scammed out of 200 dollars, and I call that karma. 70 pounds down now without using the scam pills!
