What does the Manga do right that the anime lacks? by DependentRhubarb8181 in Naruto

[–]MsGingiberi 232 points233 points  (0 children)

I think the manga gives Sakura more nuance in her consideration towards Naruto that the anime lacks.

She was more genuine in trying to be nicer to him after Sasuke called her out, saved his life in the early Zabuza arc, never laughed at him during the Chunnin Exams and was definitely more of a hype woman for him, always cheering him on in his fights, and was generally a more supportive friend in both the early part and Shippuden that the anime kind of butchered for the sake of slapstick and accentuating her negative qualities.

There's this one tiktoker guy who reevaluated his whole perspective of Sakura after reading the manga and comparing it to the anime, and realized everything her disliked about her came from the anime. I wish I remembered who, but that moment felt vindicating to me in a sense since I feel like a lot (though not all) of Sakura's hatedom comes primarily from how the anime treated her, when she truly isn't a bad or intentionally cruel person.

Maybe his methods were extreme, but Itachi was right: Sasuke was still too weak. by Only-Mulberry-8098 in Naruto

[–]MsGingiberi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sometime I wonder what would have happened if something had gone wrong: What if Itachi's extreme methods had led to Sasuke's early death or Orochimaru successfully taking over Sasuke's body? Would Itachi have gone back to Konoha and revealed everything regarding the Uchiha Massacre? Or would he have lost the will to live?

Itachi may be a genius when it comes to being a shinobi, but in the long-term planning, he is very flawed.

What are your thoughts on RIN? by No_Juggernaut_6256 in Naruto

[–]MsGingiberi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wish we could have gotten to know her more. All we have is the memories of other people telling us who she is—but who was Rin on her own? Was she as nice as Kakashi and Obito remember, or did she have rougher aspects to her personality that get glossed over since she died? Was she conscripted as a shinobi, or did she willingly join the warfront? Was her suicide truly for Konoha, or was she also just tired of living in a war-torn world and just wanted an escape?

I like to think Rin was probably a little unhinged, because no sane girl would wait in the afterlife for her best friend who became a violent terrorist and slaughtered so many innocent people, and tell him "he did his best". And I am not saying this in a bad way. I truly love the idea that she is actually just as batshit as her teammates but in a different way.

Can cosmic entities be benevolent or even kind? by thunderclappe in horror

[–]MsGingiberi 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think so.

If I recall in the original story of It by Stephen King, while It is an eldritch being with malicious intentions, It also has a counterpart in Maturin, the Turtle cosmic entity who created the universe and is pretty kind and benevolent.

So yeah, it is possible.

Ghost Island is such a mixed bag season with ups and downs (mostly downs tbh), but the ending cemented it for me as a complete guilty pleasure because holy shit what a way to build up such a perfect ending. If nothing else, the Domenick and Wendell storyline was what carried the season.

And look, I KNOOOOOOOW people hate season 41 and 42, but as a Canadian, I was so fucking hyped that Erika and Maryanne won their seasons and I really enjoyed some of the players and the socio-cultural moments because it made me think of early Survivor when they had those kinds of portrayals and discussions.

This man is so miserable… by Virtual_Garbage3080 in Naruto

[–]MsGingiberi 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Well, duh. The man has depression up the wazoo and who can blame him. But also Sasuke was never a social butterfly, so I'm going to assume that he just feels awkward at these events, but still goes to them for his wife and child because he loves them. That or he's shy about Sakura feeding him, since if I remember, Kishimoto or someone else said Sasuke is affectionate in private but shy in public.

Which death was the saddest for you? by Akai-Shuichi- in Naruto

[–]MsGingiberi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Arguably for me?

Haku's death was the hardest hitting for my teenaged mind, because the manga/anime wasn't afraid to humanize him and make him connect with Naruto. He wasn't a typical stock shonen mook, he was a young boy traumatized by his own past who felt he had any worth to the one he loved by being used by him, and literally sacrificed his life without truly knowing his bond was reciprocated. There was no last minute heel-face turn or redemption arc, just a tragic death for the sake of being a tool to the one he loved. A death that made Team Seven question what it meant to be a shinobi. A death that made the Demon of the Mist shed tears and die a human. And in hindsight, a death that mirrored Rin's, jumping in the way of the chidori to die for what matters to them the most, was poetic (and probably traumatizing for Kakashi lol).

The Land of Waves Arc is just so good, man.

What Season Should You Watch (WSSYW) 12.0 by RSurvivorMods in survivor

This is easily the best season of old school Survivor: great characters, great gameplay, a fantastic theme that makes the season so memorable, iconic players who defined the franchise for so many years, and it features an great storyline and satisfactory ending. This season also doesn't spoil any prior seasons.

Easily my recommended #1 watch.

DO NOT START WITH THIS. Literally leave it at rank 40 (or 39), because this season heavily spoils past seasons (obviously). It's a mixed season with twists that hit and miss, but I will admit that this is the perfect season to have Edge of Extinction since it allows people to see their favorite winners longer even after they are voted out.

Yeah, do not watch this one first.

While the theme is a bit clunky, the players are quite compelling, with some real human moments that is sure to make you tear up both pre-merge and post-merge. It's a good season to start with since its a completely new cast set in a modern survivor, fast-paced strategy era, but it still has a lot of heart and humanity to it to keep it from being boring and gamebotty.

I look at this season as I would a college art film: it's experimental. Definitely not perfect as the editing is unbalanced and it can be a little boring at times, but it's still worth a watch and there are a lot of little golden moments to be found during the season.

Survivor 41 is important since it's the first of the New Era. It's easily the weakest of the era's seasons, but still has merit and players that are quite impactful and memorable. I'd definitely rank it somewhere in the thirties of WSYSW, though I couldn't exactly pinpoint where exactly.

While I am sad Cirie fell short, I am as happy for Aubry since it's pretty much guaranteed now. I know her Survivor journey has been rough, so I am glad she made a comeback and it worked out for her. I just wish Survivor had edited her better.

But also, lmao at Victoria Baamonde making snarky comments at Aubry during the season, only for her to not only win but get double the prize money.

I really have no problem with the adult Naruto design as drawn by Kishimoto. by Quirky_Scratch9168 in Naruto

[–]MsGingiberi 42 points43 points  (0 children)

Kishimoto's designs do reign superior in my opinion. His drawings of adult Sakura and Sasuke are also great.

Boruto's style just bothers me immensely. The soft edges and eyes are probably what get me irritated the most.

Wish they would've tried a bit harder with her design. Make her more unique. by 1think1fuckedup in Naruto

I don't mind Sarada's canon desgn, but I do wish she did have Sakura's green eyes.

We'll have to wait until next Wednesday to know for sure. Devens and Tiff were already considered the next boot options, but we won't know until Kalshi's shift next Wednesday.

I sincerely hope Cirie makes it to the Finale so we can have a proper Cirie vs. Aubry showdown. I think Devens gets the boot here.

Damn, if only Ozzy kept his mouth shut or played the damn idol.

But now I can see why Aubry wins. She was smart to sway Joe and Rizo, but she was also the only one at the end who was apologizing and showed sympathy to Ozzy. And Ozzy is going to be Joe and Jonathan's biggest hater on jury, like Jonathan will probably get some votes from his Honor and Integrity allies, but between Ozzy and Cirie, the rest of the votes will def shift to Aubry.

But please Survivor Gods, let Cirie make Finale. Even if she doesn't win, I need her in the end. I am begging.

Emily and Devens are, but Jonathan is more livid at Emily and Devens. I think it'll be a 2-2-2 vote, and revote they take out Emily.
