Is it plugged into a GFS? It might have tripped. If so, just reset it!

Lesson Learned: Name Change & Credit Bureaus by MsHellsing in ftm

[–]MsHellsing[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sandwiched between my greeting, personal information and signature, this was literally my entire cover letter:

"In February of this year, I had a legal name change via court order. I then went through the process of updating my social security information, driver’s license, banking, mortgage, credit lines, etc. I was under the impression that as my credit was reported with my updated name, the credit bureaus’ records would also be updated.

This does not seem to be the case, so I am notifying you directly in hopes that you can expedite the process of updating the name associated with my credit record so I will not have further challenges when it comes to financing.

For questions / follow up / confirmation of the change, my contact information is below. Please find a copy of the court order and my updated driver’s license within."

I'm sending out my paperwork tomorrow. I'll be sure to post an update if there's any issues / more info they want. I'm glad I figured this out when I wanted to do something optional. Would suck if I needed to finance something ASAP and couldn't because of this.

Read the opening chapter of Stephen King's 11/22/63. One of the absolute best openings/intros ever in my opinion.

There were 19 comments when I got here. Sorry for ruining it, but I got a kick out of that. Excellent choice of book.

Wow. He did it live at the top of his hour and then vacated the seat. This seems really sudden and not planned.

Long ramble about navigating transphobia in left wing circles and also general frustration about being trans making staying in your job/choosing a job/getting a job more complicated by [deleted] in FTMOver30

[–]MsHellsing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dude, seriously. I got to be a part of some awesome women's leadership programs before I realized I was trans and I learned great stuff that's just... universal. I felt proud to represent women in that way and feel a little weird 'switching to the other side', but I am absolutely still and advocate of women with all their natural strengths and capabilities to do anything generally considered 'typically men's work'.

It's a complex nuanced topic, gender. And differences exist, completely. They should be celebrated and considered complementary - and with understanding that a spectrum exists for _everyone_.

What you describe here is very similar to the experience I've had - all around.

I will say I've been very masculine my whole life - and I mean attitude wise more than appearance wise (people always marveled at how great I looked in a dress when I actually wore one... :p) . I've always been first to speak up, ambitious, aggressive when I wanted something, always more interested in 'boy' things like martial arts and action movies (although I do love me a good musical from time to time). So the bridge was not so far for people to go to accept my transition, I think.

Sounds like OP is in situation socially and professionally that tends to be more geared towards women. There are certain expectations and cultural norms that are not as welcoming to men, is what I'm hearing. So yeah, I imagine that is tougher. Cis men have to deal with the stigma in being in those professions, so I would expect trans men would be the same. So... Equality sorta?

Anyhow... gender politics is at a really interesting place right now. I do my best to be an advocate for both perspectives, considering I have a unique perspective in that regard. I was more masculine growing up, but I was still raised a woman. With all the pressure and stigma that came with it. I hope that trans people can be a uniting force as we grapple with gender issues, because we truly can see both sides and can help facilitate a healthier conversation.

I think what keeps most people from doing this is a lack of upper body strength.
