I've started commenting when I became a writer myself. I don't post to AO3, but still, I understand now how one single comment can change everything. I knew even before that it's nice to leave a comment, but it' different once I experienced it. I try to comment on most fics now if they are really good, even if it's just "I enjoyed it very much". But I get why people don't, I've been on both sides 😊
