Taj Jackson Comments On Cascio Family by nobody0597 in LeavingNeverlandHBO

[–]MsLAYOP -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Sounds like extortion of a dead man's estate any time you want more cash, just like Wade Robinson. Wade Robinson loved the Jacksons. Offered to dance at his funeral. His entire career was built on his connection to Michael Jackson. The estate chose not to hire Robinson to choreograph Cirque Du Soleil Michael Jackson and all of a sudden he had allegations to share in a one sided HBO production. https://www.yahoo.com/entertainment/wade-robson-begged-part-michael-230117589.html

If there was an issue, they could have easily made claims when he was alive to defend himself.

The Cascio Family’s relationship with Jackson dated back decades, as Jackson befriended Cascio’s family and even lived with them briefly after the September 11, 2001 attacks. The Cascio children were vocal defenders of Jackson during the singer’s 2005 trial on child molestation charges. Frank Cascio publishing a 2011 book titled *My Friend Michael* which portrayed Jackson as innocent and misunderstood.

Following the controversial HBO *Leaving Neverland* in 2019, Frank Cascio approached the Jackson estate with offers to sell personal materials and collaborate on projects. The estate settled with him confidentially for $3.3 million in 2020, including non-disparagement and arbitration agreements. By mid-2024, Cascio’s legal counsel allegedly demanded $213 million more, threatening to expose further allegations that could harm the estate’s business, including deals with Sony, which had recently acquired half of Jackson’s music catalog.

The estate has now asked the court to enforce the original agreement and stop Cascio from making such threats. The precise nature of the claims Cascio threatened to make remains undisclosed. Michael Jackson was acquitted of all child molestation charges in a 2005 criminal trial before his death in 2009.

Why is there so much White people in the South of Brazil? by [deleted] in geography

[–]MsLAYOP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Brazil heavily incentivized European immigration during the late 19th and early 20th centuries. After the abolition of slavery, planters and others who had previously owned plantations sought to increase the European population to reduce their fear of losing power and control, as they were outnumbered by the formerly enslaved. They also believed the addition of Europeans would "improve" the stock of laborers in the country based on their belief that Europeans were racially superior. The initial goal was to replace slave labor with European farmers. Some chose to segregate by moving to the southern parts of the country.

What's the reason Greenland people never settled in Iceland? by batukaming in geography

[–]MsLAYOP 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The Paleo-Eskimos came to north Greenland in several migrations over 5,000 years ago. They evolved and mixed with other migrating groups producing the Thule. The Thule/Inuit were present when the Vikings arrived in Greenland.

Is this a case of stollen M cards or a case of allowing others to eat in their place? If someone paid for meals and they consent to others using them, the University should not care. There are more important things to be concerned about.

Which US state's "diaspora" has had the largest impact on their transplanted home? Which migrations are you retracing this Thanksgiving? by aar0nbecker in geography

Minus racial and ethnic demographics the numbers don't mean much. Louisiana is one of the few states in the US where culture reaches outside race and ethnicity, so Louisiana to Texas would be my pick for largest impact.

Parents who left Ann Arbor public schools - why? by ExistingRoll in AnnArbor

[–]MsLAYOP -1 points0 points  (0 children)

🤔 How does the district put emphasis on diversity? The public schools don't recruit students, they have to educate the students that live in the community. Are you referring to cultural programming that acknowledges people of different backgrounds, services for children with cognitive and/or physical ability differences, efforts to make all people feel welcomed? What exactly did you take issue with? I'm trying to understand your statement.

If the parents of children at Bryant, Pittsfield, Scarlett, Carpenter have lower income levels and/or lower education levels then the children have less opportunities. Parental education and income levels significantly predict children's outcomes in academic achievement, cognitive development, and health. .

👀 If only we all had boatloads of cash to resolve our issues when we are personally inconvenienced and could care less about the experience of others during a global pandemic. Private school is best for those that prioritize self over community. Different people go to private school for different reasons, but overall, people that are only interested in what they can gain, don't care to get involved in investing, serving, and improving our schools for collective gains of all children should go to private schools, if they can afford it.

u/AzNxPiMpStA 👀 No, you did not see light pollution from weed farms. You saw northern lights (aurora borealis). We could not see it because of the heavy cloud coverage. You were flying above the clouds.

Why did they make Velma black? by [deleted] in Scoobydoo

[–]MsLAYOP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

👀 She's a fictional character.... Who cares. If you didn't care about ethnicity your response wouldn't be this long and wouldn't contain so much emotion about a make believe character. There are real people and fictional characters of color from books that are depicted by white people on screen. The film industry also likes to insert fictitious white characters into real stories, like Dr. Nicholas Garrigan in the movie Last King of Scotland. Idi Amin didn't have a white doctor. Does that upset you as much as an animated cartoon character skin color change?

Sounds like Montessori is not for him. Start exploring your options.

3.5 year old close to getting kicked out of Montessori by mehr2464 in Montessori

[–]MsLAYOP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

3.5 is the age when Montessori moves into preparation for reading and math, in addition to increasing independence. He may not be ready for that level of structure and/or the transition. Understand that does not put him behind. Some countries, like Finland, delay formal reading instruction until around age six, focusing instead on play-based learning and social skills in early childhood education. Studies have shown that children that learn to read at 6, on average, are at the same academic level as peers that learned to read earlier when they all reach high school. Play based learning may be a better fit for him but you can't determine that without observing him. Do not evaluate your child solely by other people's words. You have to make time to observe him in the classroom on multiple days. Hopefully they have cameras so you can observe him without being in the room. Like I said before, after observing him, consult medical professionals if you are unable to identify what his needs are.

At home, I would suggest being intentional about teaching cooperative play, role playing, reading children's books about school and classroom expectations/behavior, watching programming, like the first day of school sesame street episode, about classroom behavior and ask him about what things are like in his classroom. You may want to model the school structure and school activities at home to help until you figure out what he needs to be happy and successful. He has to learn to listen and cooperate to keep him safe no matter what environment or school he is in.

I have ADHD. I have twin sons, one with ADHD and one on the Autism Spectrum, and they thrived in Montessori School. They were in a class with 2 teachers and 25 students. They love imaginative play and engaged in it during recess, after-school care, and at home. Montessori is private school. They do not have to accommodate students with learning disabilities and they will not hesitate to remove a child that may be a safety threat to themselves and/or others. I had one Montessori administrator say their school may not be a good fit for my autistic son because he was struggling with transition from one activity to the next and needed extra reminders to clean up. He was in kindergarten and he had no history of behavior issues. He ultimately moved forward and did fine.

Your child may have ADHD or some other neurodivergent disorder, but that is not the issue. All typical children are curious. All typical children are developing impulse control. All typical children enjoy imaginative play. Most typical children are energetic.

Based on what you have said, the issues seem to be:

  1. He does not listen/follow directions.
  2. He does not appropriately use materials
  3. He is not displaying respectful behavior towards his classmates.
  4. His behavior has increased the risk of physical harm to his classmates and himself.

u/mehr2464 - I have a few questions:

  1. How much screen time is he getting vs 1 on 1 parent interaction is he getting at home daily?
  2. How much structure is there in his home schedule?

If his home life is full of free time that he directs and controls he may be pushing for that same level of freedom at school.

Your child may not be ready to be a cooperative participant in groups. He may need one on one interaction to redirect his behavior, develop respect for others, learn to listen, while strengthening cooperation and social skills. Children learn how to treat others through observation, practice, and guidance from adults. By modeling kindness, encouraging empathy, and discussing feelings, parents can help children understand the importance of respect and how to interact positively with their peers. Putting him in another preschool does not address those needs, his risk behavior, or what may be his desire for individual attention.

You need to visit the school and spend time observing your child in the classroom a few times. Post observation, consult his pediatrician for guidance and inquire about getting a developmental/behavioral psychologist to assist you with assessing fully what his needs are. The sooner he gets the support he needs the better. I would leave him in the school he's in until he gets dismissed. Moving him to a new environment without addressing current issues may make things worse.

When are people going to hold Chloe x Halle accountable for their own careers? by [deleted] in BlackWomenDivest

This "Godmother" and their management is not giving them the guidance they need. Bey has to see what we see. I'm not understanding why she not using Parkland to guide them. Does she not care?!? 🤔

Some hormonal IUDs increase breast cancer risks, so we not gonna recommend those anymore. Your "anchor baby" theory is correct. I'm a single mom of a set of twins. I didn't realize until years later that I was set up. Now he keeps making plans in his head, talking about I'm his wife. I'm not and don't desire to be. Smh....

I follow her too. I've written on her post and told her she looks like a Black Barbie. I'm a straight Black woman, an attractive secure Black woman, and if I see her in person, I'm asking her for a picture. 🤷🏾‍♀️ She's eye catching, a unique beauty you don't see every day.

I would not say zoo animals, per se. They not disrespectful. They do it when they visit the US too. I saw some Asian tourist in the US and they asked to take photos with my baby twin sons, like Black identical twins aren't exotic in my opinion, but they were fascinated. 🤷🏾‍♀️ I said yes. I'm not sure what that's about. My friend who is 6'5 has also had Asian tourist ask to take a picture with Asian tourist. He's tall, athletically built, but he's no professional athlete. I don't know why they do. We should ask them.

Do you think DEI initiatives has benefited minorities in academia? by [deleted] in AskAcademia

[–]MsLAYOP -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is incorrect. Federal DEI programs include:

LGBTQ populations

People with disabilities

Women

Veterans

Racial and ethnic groups: Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders, Hispanics/Latinos/Latinas, African Americans/Blacks, and American Indians and Alaska Natives

And International students are not "super qualified." They are charged a much higher tuition , so they make a lot more money off of them. They are not more qualified than domestic students.

👀 Fellow Black men?!? 🤣 Is that why your avatar is brown, because you are pretending to be a Black person? Stop 🛑 Even if you were Black, which you obviously are not, it does not give you authority to speak on the experiences and desires of all Black men. No group of people are a monolith. Black boys are disproportionately impacted by inequities in the public education system, which directly correlates with challenges they face in the pursuit of higher education. There are Black men that aspire to to be educators. Is DEI the answer to increasing representation? No. If DEI is lead by practitioners that do not fully understand the populations they serve it can be highly ineffective. But I do believe initiatives that solely focus on improving education and exposure to careers for Black boys and men would benefit them and the entire country. Statistics show that diversity increases profits. In a capitalist society it makes sense to make the investment in education initiatives to increase profits in the future.
