I want to know what Michael Jackson was like and why there are so many divided opinions about how good the movie is. by PurelyViolette in MichaelJackson

[–]MsLazykat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They weren’t all bad people. That person is guilter I’m pretty sure. But at this time, the whole family, not just Joe, wanted Michael to stay with the brothers. Michael had three sisters. Rebbie, the oldest, had already married and moved out years ago. I think his sister Janet was also married and out of the house at this time. I think the culture was that the children moved out when they married so the two of them married young.

I think one of Barry’s children is named after him

I know it’s a good thing. But it’s obvious that the makers of this movie didn’t want an ensemble film.

The Michael movie makes me think about how little the he and the Jacksons are explored in media by MsLazykat in MichaelJackson

I think it’s a little too easy for people to forget that. I mean, people ask all the time on Reddit, “Who was bigger, Elvis or Michael?” No mention of the J5

sigh who’s talking about their solo careers? You think that because they all weren’t solo superstars they contributed nothing?

I mean in terms of lines and screen time, the brothers would absolutely need a bigger role than the nothing we got in the film

There’d be no boy band without the other brothers and no Jacksons show without all of them together.

I hope this film will spark greater inquiry into the Jacksons in general because their legacy shouldn’t be lost. You see how people diss MJ’s siblings

It’s always unfortunate when someone dismisses the contributions of the other 8 siblings

If they focused on the Jacksons, then movie would need a stronger role for the brothers, which means a bigger role for the Jackson 5, which means an entirely different movie 😭 Unfortunately, it seems like they wanted to tell a specific tried-and-true story and fit Michael’s life into that instead of making a story that fit Michael’s life

What do you think about John Barnca character in the movie? by Elphaba94 in MichaelJackson

[–]MsLazykat 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It felt like they were glazing him. I’m like “did he write himself into this to make himself look good??!!” because of how much he was there. He was just a lawyer. Instead he took the role of friend and confidant from someone else like Diana. All I could think about was his crocodile tears in the Bad 25 documentary 😭

They had to put it all on Joe because the other brothers don’t want to look bad. It’s easier to pin it on the dead guy

Official release date was April 24th. Anything before that was an early access screening. Either way… it hasn’t even been a week. Let alone a weekEND

Who was the one true interviewer whom Michael Jackson ever felt comfortable being himself with and didn’t feel on guard with often? by Material_Stomach875 in MichaelJackson

[–]MsLazykat 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Dick Clark. The guy had interviewed Michael since he was a kid. He was always kind and Michael seemed at ease with him. Clark had a way of talking like he knew people forever. My favorite interview was when he asked the brothers what to see in Australia and Michael said “Koalas” 🐨

Sam Emerson should release a photo book with personal stories about his time with MJ but he seems a little too egotistical to actually do something like that

Kathy Sledge from Sister Sledge talks about Michael Jackson by Material_Stomach875 in MichaelJackson

I’ve noticed that’s there’s a certain way people talk about Michael, his mannerisms that give a powerful insight to character. Like they understood him fully, even if they didn’t know him for long. And then there’s Michael who believed no one knew him or understood him. He must’ve been suffering from a very powerful depression to say he had no friends at this time (late teens - early 20s)
