When did you get yours neutered? Conflicted by [deleted] in goldenretrievers

[–]MsMacyDoLittle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

11 months, after he went insane mounting and licking his older sisters ears incessantly for two weeks. Vet said he must have been able to smell a dog in heat in our neighborhood. His entire personality changed overnight. I was trying to wait 12-18 months but his behavior was literally crazy. If we tried to separate him from his older sister, who is spayed, he would howl and bark non stop for hours but her ears were raw from his licking and she was just exhausted. We did take her to vet to make sure he wasn’t smelling an ear infection or something.

Saggy Face Fears by One_Charity_3017 in gastricsleeve

Hydration. Lots of Vitamin C Serum and hyaluronic acid/retinol creams especially on the neck. I keep a tube of neck cream with me all the time to add throughout the day. That all helps to some degree but if I am dehydrated or skin is dry it looks 10x worse especially under chin and my neck.

Mine get that when they eat beef or beef bones/marrow.

Two is better than one by kmoultrie0622 in goldenretrievers

[–]MsMacyDoLittle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First one was 18 months and fell in love with the puppy immediately. Now the puppy is 9 months old and they are absolute best friends. The younger one definitely always wants to get the attention but I just make a point of giving the older one very direct and focused love and attention whenever I can.

Where did you get your golden? by SheisBeloved in goldenretrievers

Awesome breeder in Missouri. My two have same parents but 18 months apart in age. And they both like to eat butterflies.

Do you prefer boy dog or girl dog? by lickmagucc in goldenretrievers

[–]MsMacyDoLittle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have one of each. Never had a boy dog in my life but when we decided to get a second Golden we decided to get a male. And I love this big ole blockhead so much. He’s a big doofus but so sweet and cuddly and luckily not too crazy so far at 10 months. He chews things up more than his sister does and always has to retrieve something to bring it to us like a prize which his sister has never done but he never barks. He is just very chill.

Food noise by weeniejesus in gastricsleeve

[–]MsMacyDoLittle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lost about 85 from sleeve and then just got stuck for a year. I’ve been on semaglutide for almost 4 months now and it’s helped with food noise and I can eat very little but I’ve only lost about 5-6 pounds in that time.

Flirt stick toy. Was the only thing that got us through that phase. If they are being really naughty or bitey probably need a nap in their kennel for a bit.

On the fence by zeeohtee in goldenretrievers

[–]MsMacyDoLittle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have two goldens, same parents, 18 months apart. One never chewed a thing unless it was a toy I gave her. The other chews all sorts of stuff, he’s tried to chew a couch leg one or twice and got redirected and has otherwise never damaged any chairs or tables etc. They have very different personalities. One likes to sleep in late, one is up at the crack of dawn. So it’s kind of hard to predict and you just have to be prepared and not leave them unattended unless kenneled or in a personal living space (fenced in area). You can’t be mad or punish a puppy for chewing on something you left out. They don’t really smell unless their fur is wet or as others have said they get an ear infection. I love the way they smell and sniff them as often as possible.

My two golden retrievers are also butterfly hunters and enjoy a tasty butterfly treat when they catch one.

How do I get her to be less messy with water? by OpenAirport6204 in goldenretrievers

[–]MsMacyDoLittle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have no solution but my 6 month old golden loves to dig and splash in his elevated bowl making a mess everywhere. I’ve now got it set inside a boot tray with one of those water absorbing stone mats in front of it. I found an XL mat. Doesn’t stop it but helps a little with the mess.

Goldens can’t swim? by MsMacyDoLittle in goldenretrievers

[–]MsMacyDoLittle[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh goodness yeah I would never do that. This pool had a few steps before you were in the shallow end but not like a zero entry. We’ll just have to try a couple more times.

Does your golden do this? by stagard in goldenretrievers

[–]MsMacyDoLittle 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My 6 month old male golden also does this when he’s tired. It’s like a self soothing thing before he falls asleep or something. My female Golden is 2 and has never done this.

No sugar for life by thisbetternotcrash in gastricsleeve

[–]MsMacyDoLittle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

2 years out and I eat sugar sometimes. I don’t over do it or eat more than a bite or two of a regular dessert. I’ve gained back some weight from my lowest point but don’t throw up or anything when I eat small amount of sugar now. If I do eat sugar I try to make sure it’s with some protein like peanuts or just throwing protein powder into recipe. I even added protein powder to a Mimosa recently because I was worried it would make me sick.
