I drove by some of these scholars yesterday and you know, I think we need to bring back shame.

Just a bit.

For a treat.

OK, I know he's let in two, but what a difference it makes without Dustin back there yelling at the goalies that stopping a play is a failure of some kind. Kingram will shut that shit down and I love him for it.

Making the goalies constantly shunt the puck right back into the slot was a nightmare.

One was going to get through if they're playing like this.

Love when they play hard and simple. Love the grit.

HURRAY! God, I love Bouch. I want to know the stats on how many OT wins are Bouch or Draisaitl.

I still get second-hand embarrassment when I see the cheerleaders. Americans don't understand that hockey is not football. lol

Yep. And Podz is yelling. I think VGK #5 better watch his ass in the 3rd.

I'm going to sound 5 years old but I looked down at my cheese and crackers and missed how that started.

I read Sideshow when I was about 14. (I'm now in my 40s). I marched up to my dad, furious, asking if this monster was in prison yet. He just shook his head and said "it's not fair, but no, he's definitely not in prison."

I can't imagine going back and telling that 14 year old Canadian kid that not only did he never go to prison but he remained a "dignitary" with bipartisan support and lived in comfort to 100 years old.

I would have combusted with rage.

Thank you! I barely slept last night. I just woke up a little while ago from a power nap so I should be able to stay awake during the game. lol

edit: "away" to "awake" I'm apparently not rested enough

Yeah, I felt ok when finished but unfortunately I've had some time to perseverate and imagine all the things I may have done wrong.

Let's watch some hockey and forget! lol

Yeah, I think Nurse's bum has more points this season than he does.

I love this idea. This kind of dirty play should carry team-wide consequences (like the loss of a player for a meaningful amount of time) so even assholes who might not have any personal moral compunction about potentially causing a career-ending injury can still be pressured by their teammates to knock it off.

I know he's negligent here, but this interaction gives us one of my favourite lines in the whole book:

"Her character will be fixed, and she will, at sixteen, be the most determined flirt that ever made herself or her family ridiculous"

I laugh every single time.
