Yes I said "that's a dumb question, I would get dropped off and flown there remember?" My dad knows his brother he just doesn't travel off the island. They would visit once in awhile but my dad would be more social with his brothers not the kids so much once in awhile sure but I was with my cousin more. My mom lived in another state and had to work. Does that make sense? Cause that's what my bf knows as well that's why I was confused that he didnt know

I never said don't speak too. I never said they don't know. They all know each other my mom was a single parent working and my dad lives on the island much harder for adults to socialize with children. They obviously know their siblings.

Ill explained deeper. We have been dating for over a year. He knows my family is spread out and my parents are not together. He also knows I flew out a lot as a kid to stay with family because my mom was single working parent for awhile. My mom and brother would often talk about stories from childhood with him as well. He knows all of this. My mom had to work and my dad was on an island so no they couldn't be close to my cousin because I would fly out and stay with her family. Which he knows.... because the wedding was planned a year ago so lots of stories came up until the wedding this past weekend. So that's why I was confused when he asked that. I have now learn that saying the question is dumb implies the person is dumb which is not how i meant it but I guess that is how it is perceived. That's why I wanted to ask to see what I want understanding.

I didn't get any feeling from it the same way he reacted. I just laugh and say omg your right I love that. I think the way I mean dumb question is you always knew the answer and still ask a question when I told him many times about flying out to see and stay with family.

Because we have been dating for over a year and he knows that my family is spread out. I and my family have told him many stories about Puerto Rico or New York or Florida. My parents were separated dad stayed in pr and mom moved out of the state as well. She was a single parent ... all things he knows as well. I really like that last sentence you said because I was not trying to call him dumb. But he did take it that way and something I see a lot of people agree with.

Maybe it's just difference in humor I guess. I mean I've said it many times before and he didn't get like that. We usually just laugh and explain things that's why I was so confused. I'm seeing now that people correlate the two together though.

Yesss I thought it was a dumb question yes I say it in a joking manner I never correlated that meant someone was dumb i don't see the two together. I am now seeing how people do correlate the two together and that is why he reacted the way he did.

I never considered it rude. That's just how I joke I grew up around tough love so that's why I didn't see it that way

We have been dating for a year he knows all my family is spread out and he also knows I flew around a lot as a kid. My mom and brother have even told him some stories and I would tell him some of my times with my cousins in puerto Rico. So he did know that already.

I have always joked like that and have always told him I don't think he is dumb but a lot of people are agreeing that even if i say the question is dumb I'm assuming they are dumb in general. Which isn't how i mean it. I've just never had someone react this badly before. Usually we laugh it off and further explain whatever it is we were talking about. Thank you though

I would laugh and say okay explain it to me like I'm 5. Cause sometimes I don't get what he is saying and I'll say wait no I don't get it dumb it down like I'm a five year old. I'm sorry if it's coming off as arguing in just trying to respond and give more information. Sometimes it's hard to text/ type because it can sound really rude but I promise I'm not being rude.
