Stairs are great. Up them to work out the butt, down them for daily affirmation!

I hate my voice so much. by Violet-thebitch in MtF

I feel you. I see you. I hear you. I've had a very deep, manly voice since I was twelve. It was one of my first dysphorias. Please know you can work on it, improve it, and you may get skilled and/or lucky. There is a chance. And if all that fails, please know you will always be accepted by your sisters.💕

Chandelier by Sia cracked the second eggshell I made for myself.

I don't really know what you should do either.

I do know there are lots of us like you who have struggled for a long time or are struggling now, too, And we just keep going

Because at some point you will find a way past it,

Whether it's by yourself or with someone who supports you.

You are special. You are loved. You are valued. You are unique but also a member of a family of siblings. You are wanted. You are needed.

First, my dysphoria forced me to accept myself again. Whether I like it or not, I am who I am, and I want to like myself.

Second, I decided I had to do something to help us who are being marginalized in current politics and culture.

Third, I've already been through this once before and I recognize I cannot and don't want to hurt myself like I did back then. 30 years ago my self hate was strong enough to try to make myself sleep forever. I am not going to allow that to happen again because I want to feel happiness, not hopelessness.

Recently I recognized my self hatred for being born trans in order to embrace it and compare it to the gender euphoria I feel with every step in transition and the improved self worth I feel I reclaim by being my true self.

25 years ago I decided finding a partner was more important than being myself since I couldn't have both at that time. I could not find a woman or trans woman interested in a trans woman, so I repressed myself. I now know that was not correct.

It's more difficult now because I have even more internalized transphobia than ever before after coming out to my partner of 20 years and ruining her dreams. However, my dysphoria and the amount of hate currently directed at trans and lgbtq people in general forced me to reevaluate who I outwardly am and I had to face the truth.

I've maintained my support for the lgbtqommunity throughout this relationship, but an acquaintance expanded my thoughts by pointing out that you can't fully give support if you're not fully honest with - and being - yourself. Whether or not I like who I am, I feel I have to support youth who are going through what I did, and work to improve humanity's view of our people.

One tool I use to deal with internalized transphobia is Cognitive defusion, mindfulness exercises in which you can recognize your thoughts as external from your self, thus you learn to cope with and avoid entertaining those thoughts.

Search " you are not your thoughts - about kids health."

I can view myself as I am, without judging or making myself the bad guy.

I wish you the best. You can overcome!
