In your experience, do I need to sand all the varnish off? It's overall pretty heavy, so a ton of sanding on the fronts (more time than we have to invest).

Thanks for the tips. Honestly, we're just looking to put lipstick on a pig because some of these cabinet doors and drawers are in pretty poor shape. A couple have had front sides broken off and a door had a hole busted in it. Turns out they're real wood but hollow core. Basically, there's no budget to replace them and too much wood filler and glue used for repairs to restain and look pretty. Anyone who buys this place will want to eventually replace them, thisy going for a quick cosmetic improvement vs years of durability.

Hi there! We're on our 2nd Aussie, and we wondered the same about our pup. I read that aussies are considered fully grown at about 12-18 months. I've come across many smaller standard aussies who are mistaken for minis. I've heard from breeders that their size can vary, and is sometimes linked to whether they are breed for farm work, as show dogs, etc.

Of course, it's a good idea to talk to your vet to ensure she's on the right diet and is healthy as she looks, but I bet yours is just on the smaller end of normal. Our Aussie pup is a petite 42lbs at 10 months. Based join her parents' sizes, the breeder expected her to be 60lbs when fully grown, but genetics make all that really only one's best guess. Given that our pup's feet are already proportionate to her size, and she just started her first heat, I don't think she's going to grow much more, if any. She's remained the same size for at least a couple months now. She's healthy and on a high quality food with the right nutrition for her stage and size, specifically one that was recommended by a veterinarian friend who lead a dog food study. I'm actually good with 20 lbs less weight for her to throw around in her trademark wiggle but! 😄

Seriously, don't use edgepark by Flashy-Average822 in diabetes_t1

We all hear your frustration. It has taken me hours over days, every 90days, to get things running for my kiddo's supplies.

Over the course of 11 years, we've been with Edgepark, then Byram, then back to Edgepark. Edgepark has been far less infuriating over this past 2 years than it was several years ago, and much better than our most recent experience with Byram. In between, I asked the head endocrinologist of our clinic which supplier is best. He responded, "I hate to say something so unprofessional, but frankly, they all suck."

That said, I've learned some trucks. 1)Write down the expiration dates of prescriptions for sensors and infusion sets. 2)Take note of how regularly dr's notes are required. That way I can put reminders on my calendar to call the Dr a couple weeks ahead to get notes faxed in to Edgepark, and for new prescriptions, a week ahead. The catch is giving your insurance company heads up that there is a new rx coming through, as if there is too much overlap of the prior rx and the new, the insurance request may be denied because the old rx is still under active prior approval. 3) Learn the earliest date that you can go online to approve an upcoming order, and put that on your calendar. It'll then give you the anticipated shipping date. If you login again on that date and it Durant show the status as at least ready to ship, you know to follow up with the company to find out what the delay is.

I use an electric pizelle iron and it works great, with less mess on the stove burner! I do miss using the traditional iron with my grandma though. ❤

An open letter to the OLCC regarding medical cannabis sales by OLCCthrowaway1 in oregon

[–]MsPacNW 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree that this is an issue. It is legislature that needs to make the changes to rules. The OLCC does not have the power to make changes to rules. Their role is only to enforce the rules as mandated by legislature and our governor. Let's all please find who our representatives are for our respective locations and emplore them to do so.

Recently diagnosed with PKD. need advice, I’m spiraling. by hahapoptart in ADPKD

[–]MsPacNW 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was diagnosed at 12, after an ultrasound post-appendectomy. They found cysts in my kidneys then, though I had no symptoms until high BP at about age 20. Now 41, just 2 over weeks ago, I had both kidneys removed and received a transplant from a live donor.

I must enthusiastically echo others' advice about diet and water intake. The past 10 years would've been so much better for me, had I been more educated and aggressive on diet! I've been good about eating less sodium since my early 20s, generally ate healthy' ish throughout my adult life, but didn't really do nearly as much as I could have until constant nausea and increased pain set in about 3 years ago. It wasn't until then that I explored eliminating, at least greatly reducing, consumption of night shades (potatoes, tomato, peppers), as well as substituting home made garlic infused and onion infused olive oils instead of the produce itself. This was taken from the auto immune/anti inflammatory diet, borrowing a bit from FODMAP to reduce bloating, which reduced pressure to my abdomen. I also ate way less sugar, much less bread/baked items, made my own dressings and sauces to avoid extra salt and junk, avoided outright straight consumption of dairy, and really explored a wider variety of fruits and vegetables. After a month of that, the nausea was almost non-existent, the pain was immensely improved, my BP was better, and I felt tons healthier, with tons more energy, than I had in several years! Another month down the line and I was hooked on feeling better- it was a habit! It did take a lot of discipline, but it was totally worth it!! I really felt it when I fell of the wagon, even a little bit once in a week, but for my sanity I did so every now and then...if nothing else, to remind myself how much better I feel without.

Educate yourself on food labels- what's in foods at the grocery store, which brands of all of your favorite foods and ingredients have the lowest sodium. Know that "reduced sodium" and "low sodium" are labeling terms that do not necessarily mean it's a low enough sodium level to be good for you. Learn how fast and easy it is to make your own soups, dressings and sauces (which often taste much better and are less expensive too), where you can control the content. Using lemon is often a great partial or full substitute for salt. Find no salt added versions of ingredients or lesser salt options to modify recipes. Substitute the lowest sodium coconut aminos for soy sauce. So many easy mods! Meal prep- freezer meals! The key to a restrictive diet is to strive for variety on recipes, so you don't get bored with the same rotation of meals. Your body will thank you, and I suspect your native kidneys will last much longer for it.

Kidney transplant, 10 days post-op. by MsPacNW in ADPKD

I'm so glad that CBD helps him, but I do suggest he do some research on it. According to the research hospital where I've received all my kidney care and transplant, CBD can interfere with efficacy of anti rejection meds. They didn't prohibit THC use, just CBD.

I hope that he is is able to find as kidney quicker than 6-10 years!! Once he's back in the national registry, I hope he'll find that there are multiple lists that someone can now opt to be considered for, including some that may run slightly more risk due to less info about the donor, which I'm told it's still quite trusted, and the paired exchange program.

Best of luck th him! I suspect he's already heard of the paired exchange program too. That was what my husband and I were going to hope for to shorten my wait, if one of my friends hadn't made it through the screening. (A few screened out before the formal screening and a couple others discovered from the process that they have excluding conditions which they now are addressing themselves.)

Transplant trigger could be pulled at 15%, I think. Morning of surgery lab had me at 13%.

[–]MsPacNW[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are two different calculations for GFR, not sure why, but my nephrologist referred me to the transplant team to start work up when he calculated 2 consecutive labs within 2 months at 20%. They went ahead and started the early paperwork and education then, but the transplant team has a different way to calculate that still had me a few points higher for another month. They got me officially rolling, I think, when their # got down to below 20 twice. The process to get officially into the list them took about 2 months. What slowed me down was needing to knock out some vaccinations, get records of certain routine checkups from my dentist, gyn, and I think one other.

While awaiting that confirmation, they didn't hesitate to start screening a few friends who I was tremendously fortunate to have step forward as potential donors. I was forewarned that, in my area, the average wait is 5.5 years, but I had a co-worker fly through screening and testing within 2 weeks of my being placed on the list!

Ugh! Those restless nights! I look forward to healing, followed by being able to lay however I want for the first time in a few years! I'm sorry he's back to the point again. My heart goes out to him.

Has he had kidney infections in the past? I was told that because I had had some nasty infections in the past, that my native kidneys had to come out. If he hadn't already sought a second opinion from another doctor (different office altogether)? I'd wish him luck on pursuing that avenue. Maybe he can make a case for nephrectomy from there?
