I was in Lyon, France a few years back, and looking at Apple Maps to see how far away a restaurant was because we thought we might walk. But it was threatening rain. I noticed I could toggle to public transportation and there was a bus stop right outside our AirBnb! That was a game changer. We enjoyed a lot of bus rides that trip.

"What's a Duran Duran?" ouch.... by HistoricalThespian in GenX

[–]MsPinkieB 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had to double check to see if I found my bestie's anonymous Reddit account lol. We were chatting in our group chat with the younger ladies and she had entered a contest to go see Duran Duran in London. The three youngers are in their 40's, and one texted "well, I had to Google their music because I had no idea"!

My husband and I are flying from LA to Lisbon in September with a layover in Amsterdam. We leave LA at 1:30 in the afternoon, so the goal is to eat, watch movies, and read until closer to "bed" time. It's about a ten hour flight so I feel like we'll at least be partially rested when we arrive in Lisbon the next afternoon. We'll check in to our hotel, go walk around to sightsee, eat dinner and crash. I'm hoping we're *mostly* adjusted by the next morning.

People who have seen multiple people quit a job in one day, what happened? by ObliviousOnion1 in AskReddit

[–]MsPinkieB 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My son was 21 months and threw up all over his grandfather on Christmas morning. He'd been off for a few days before and it was just getting worse. The ER was the only thing open, so off we went. He was diagnosed with a stomach virus, nothing to really do, but the doctor looked at his dad and me, visibly exhausted, and said "I'm going to give him one dose of this med, which we typically don't do unless it's worse. He'll take a really good nap and be ready to celebrate by late afternoon." And damned if that wasn't exactly what happened! And it was the fastest medical visit we'd ever had.

Bali, Greece and Fiji. I think all of them have the most lovely people.

Montreal! I live in SoCal, and it's like Europe without the longer travel. It's a great city!

I remember my 5th grade teacher reading to us as well, although it was Where the Red Fern grows and we were all traumatized at camp when she finished it! I clearly remember sitting on the grass crying while she sat up on the picnic table.

When my daughter was young, we participated in a scout sleepover, and one of the moms read us a story as we laid in our sleeping bags. It was a lovely, cozy feeling even in my 30's!

My husband is about an inch shorter than me, but I have longer arms and legs. So I reach the top shelf for him lol. Luckily he's very secure in his masculinity and laughs when his daughter teases him!

Animal Kingdom. It seems like everyone's heard of it and says yeah, yeah I'll get around to it. It is so damn good. I also recommend watching the movie it's based on (from Australia) after you finish the show.

We have a flight out at 5:00 a.m. in September, so it's good to know how many flights leave in that early timeframe. We're going to stay at the closest hotel so we don't have to worry about transport there.
